What did everyone take home this year?

I myself was rather poor all weekend, but still managed to make off with a handful of adorable buttons, a pack of Win/Lose/Banana cards, a Hollow mask and a free 3-CD remix soundtrack from Final Fantasy IV that I won at the OCRemix panel. Oh, and a TON of amazing memories that I'll never forget. <3

Nothing. I couldn't find the Kinokuniya booth on Sunday, and Sasuga had no idol magazines.

But I won a free pen from the NTT docomo booth.
Man do I want those cell phones~

A Kanon Poster (autographed), a Gintama poster, a poster of House and a Paranoia Agent bag. A fairly decent haul, though there were more things that I wanted. D:

I won a ninja nonsense DVD for guessing Dragon Half at iron editor (I was called up for drawing a shyguy in pictochat)

The Dealer's Room used to be my main reason for going, but then, I used to find way more obscure and unusual monster stuff. I'm a creature fanatic the way other people are into mecha or superheroes, and where I used to come away with a big bag of stuff, I only found four small things of interest this year:

http://bogleech.com/otakon/ota9-stuffenzyme.jpg - still haven't seen the Guyver anime, but I'm familiar with Enzyme here. He came out of an $8 mystery box and was the only one I wanted, but I correctly guessed on the first try that he would be in the heaviest, so no wasted money!

http://bogleech.com/otakon/ota9-stuffultra.jpg - these are stylized Ultraman monsters, Jamila (a human deformed by radiation) and Kanegon (a clam-purse monster that eats money)

http://bogleech.com/otakon/ota9-stuffmario.jpg - one of those cute little octopus martians from Mario Galaxy.

Yep, that's it! I really wish dealer's would bring in more monster stuff. Japan has figures of all sorts of video game enemies and the stuff I obsess over.

I was very pleased with myself: I stuck to my Dealer's Room shopping list, and only purchased Final Fantasy gashapon (two Dissidia, three vol 3 FF Trading Arts, and two vol 2 FF Trading Arts) and a Blue Sun t-shirt.

In the Art Alley, I spent less than $15, which was Just As Planned. I picked up one of Ursula Vernon's wombat pins, and three badges from Silvertales: a "..." because the character looks like me, a "ZOMG," and a "Nyao~!" I heard from another staffer later in the weekend that Silvertales actually sold out of ZOMG, OMGWTFBBQ, and WTF - only to staff, lol

I made sure to save money all year for this, but I was still careful with it (those annoying college expenses in the fall...)

One Naruto T-shirt and one t-shirt with cherry blossom designs
Monokuro Boo notepad with stickers
Two knives of different styles
Three Naruto DVD's (on sale for 3$ each, how could I resist?)
Death Note replica (with rules and everything)
Star Trek decal for my laptop
FMA leather wristband

I restrained myself pretty well this year.

I didnt get as much this year as last since, I have been keeping pretty up to date with my collections. I am primairly into figures and gunpla and any other cool action figures. However, aside from gundam kits, there werent a lot to be had and a crap load of playarts FF figures. The con consits primarily of anime nick nacks, plushes, and PVC statues. Only a few offered what im into, imageanime, yes anime, and who's ever booth was across from image anime's. I also found that the mini trading figures to be very expensive....... dont know if what you find on ebay or bootlegs but i can get many of the indvidual 5" figures for around $8 where the cheapest i found in the DR was around $15........... simply not worth it for such a small nonmoveable item.

I did see some rare gems (Gantz Figma, assemble borg, and two jojo bizare adventure figs) but the prices were exaggerated. It was cool to see some of the latest releases like Revlotechs evas 2.0 and ARCH/ Galaxy Gurren Lagans! However, these were a bit pricey.

Hlj had some of the best prices but they have such small offereings I was able to get a SD gundam for $5 that just got released last month in JP.

I also one some PVC statue of an unidentified kaiju character from NTT docomo booth and yes they had some sweet a$$ phones.

But the best thing I found was on Sunday, I dont remember who the vendor was but they had megahouse Cyclone Mosepeda figures for only $10, it just had to be a mistake because first, they are incredibly hard to find now, and secondly, they retail for around $60!! Heck the old sticker price said $77!! I really contemplated buying thier entire inventory, but i figured why benenfit anymore from them...........well actually i was just too excited to think that way till it was too late lol

Overall, it was nice, just hoping for more actiong figures and rare items..... oh and i wish they had more japanese toy magazines there too....

Also was it me or there wasnt much swag given out this time around. didnt see many of the main industry booths this time either.........

I bought Naomi Tamura's live CD during Saturday's autograph session and had her sign it after the concert on Sunday. She also signed my Pokemon 1997-2003 Opening/Ending soundtrack on Saturday. She took a moment to read the title and started laughing. ^^; Then I got to take a picture of her holding my signed CD.

I also bought two of MELL's photo cards during her autograph session (since her CD sold out on Friday) and she signed my program book and both photo cards. Friday, I went to Masao Maruyama's autograph session for him and Noboru Ishiguro and Yukio Kitagawa's autographs. I went got them for my brother since he could not attend Otakon this year and Legend of the Galactic Heroes is his favorite anime. Mr. Maruyama even wrote my brother's name on his guest page in the program book when I told him who it was for. (It's hard not to like Madhouse because a lot of anime I like is produced there.) It was very nice of him! I also got to tell him what I thought of the opening animation and it made him smile. I was also able to get pictures of all three of them.

During the VAMPS panel, my question was one of the submitted ones that was picked so I won a tour fan and some VAMPS makeup. I'm glad I didn't buy the fan at SONAR after all! I did buy their album at the concert though.

Other than that, I didn't buy much. I bought a dragon keychain and some cell phone charms on Saturday. I walked around Artist's Alley and couldn't find any of the tables I was looking for and as I was about to turn around and head toward the exit, I saw Misako Rocks! and immediately stopped and added my name to her e-mail list. We chatted for about 10 minutes and she told me about her home in Brooklyn. Then, I bought the last copy of her Biker Girl manga and she signed it for me.

Kuroshitsuji plastic poster thingy, Organization XIII Xigbar shirt, a 40 dollar Miyavi CD, and a Belzenef. I only had 50 dollars to spend in the Dealers Room for the entire weekend, so needless to say, I was broke by the time I got to the Artists Alley. I had to bum quite a lot of money off of my dad to pay for the things I did get...Miyavi sucked my money up...I was pawing at so many things in the Artists Alley cause I wanted them so bad, though. xD

I brought him to work today to show people why I paid like $40 for a panda. He rode shotgun, buckled in.

Yes. I am that dorky.

I could not find the Artist Gallery as this was my first time and I regret buying nothing in the Dealer's Room. I was looking for some regular Revolutionary Girl Utena manga copies of 3,4, and 5, but I had no luck. I will try to look my local Half Price Books to find them instead. I should have bought an Otakon 2009 t-shirt, but I will wait for 2010 to come around. Still I got a free Funny People movie poster.

I stuck to my shopping list for the weekend. Here is what I got from the Dealers Room/Artist Alley:

-A Bishoujo Rogue Print
-Asuka Fan art Keychain
-Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society Art book
-Second half of the original Fullmetal Alchemist DVD set
-Black Lagoon Second Barrage DVD set
-Birdy the Mighty: Final Force DVD (I thought was long out of print. Hope the new series gets licensed before I just give up and Bittorrent it.)

Gofer Swag
-Otakon 1GB Flash Drive (That is very cool)
-Gofer Shirt (Formerly known as the TCG shirt, but still didn't have TCG or the Otakon logo strangely enough).
-2009 Otakon shirt (which is my travel Day shirt for Worldcon in Montreal in two weeks).

I struggled really hard to buy something NOT Evangelion related, and failed miserably.

I got:

Japanese Editions:

Ikari Shinji Ikusei Keikaku volume 6 and 8 (volume 7 could not be found (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif) )
Evangelion: Gakuen Datenroku volume 2 and 3

English Editions:

The Shinji Ikari Raising Project volume 1
Neon Genesis Evangelion (4 more issues of the Evangelion manga from back when it was formatted like a traditional American comic book. Yeah, I'm that hardcore.)

Ah...I see.

So much for a huge panda...for a moment I was thinking..."Were they selling Giant pandas at the con? Since when???"

Thanks for the post, Anbai. Wish the original poster of that panda thing was more forthcoming about it.

I got a Zaku head decal and an Ohtori Academy emblem decal for my computer case, a sweet Gundam 0079 artbook (looks like a series of artwork done for the Gundam Ace magazine covers, but it is super-duper sexy alcohol marker and/or watercolor art), and four Saint Seiya half-size posters. There's no school like the old school! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Bleach wallscroll
Fist of the North Star master edition
Sora and Axel figurines

For myself:
Jo Chen sketchbook and 2 prints (she's awesome)
