i just noticed my box was like over a good 25 messages over the limit all of a sudden, was there a decrease in the pm limit storage?

Actually there haven't been any changes, but my guess is that you recently made your 2000th post.

I'm going to check shortly, but I suspect that the reason your limit changed was that the limits between those under 2000 posts and over 2000 posts are different. Since we don't have a lot of people with that many here, I'm going to make sure it's set correctly.

I didnt know about the different settings.

Apparently some of the other mods were adjusting my post count....down.

This was set up years ago actually, back before we switched BBS software. I'm fairly certain that you were involved in the discussions about it. Anyhow for everyone else reading this thread, we set up a second class for members called 'veteran members' that gives them some small extra perks vs. regular members (higher pm limit, longer time to go back and edit a post, etc..) when they meet various contribution requirements. As a side note, Otakon staff don't qualify for this as they already have many of these extra abilities by default. So what happened here was that when we modded the pm limit for regular members back in the day, I likely forgot to also change it for the other class. And since we don't have a whole lot of people reaching this class nothing got double-checked till now.

As for the post count thing, from what I understand this can happen to everyone when the database is checked, as part of that process involves counts being recalculated. Sure one can go back and compare pre- and post- check counts, but I've never really felt that post counts were this huge important thing. Regardless, you still have nearly 9000 recorded posts - which is more than the sum of the top four highest non-staff posters (and almost 50% more than the next highest staff poster). If you wanted I could see about changing your post count to read .... ONE MILLION POSTS ... at least until the next scheduled database check :P

Nah, Matt, I'm not really worried about it -- just that someone was teasing me about the post count recently.
