So this year, in celebration of Disorganization XIII's Spoiler: The Panel 3 getting an 18+ label, we have decided to make pants totally optional at our panel. So you can come in and take your pants off and chill in your underwear while listening to some awesome geeky anime comedy.

That being said.

I have realized that we shouldn't keep a monopoly on pants optional panels. So I am curious, what other panels would you really like to take your pants off at.

I'd like to take my pants off at whatever fanfiction panel they are having this year. I think it will serve as an accurate visual representation of my fanfiction writing skills.

(P.S. Disorganization XIII does not support the removal of pants at any panel that does not explicitly allow it like we do ... but it's nice to dream)

Ummm...cute and all, but dropping trou isn't really allowed. Even at an 18+ panel. BCC rules are already stretched quite a bit to allow the wide range of cosplay, but underwear alone isn't sufficient attire to pass their muster.

Showing up in your pajamas, however, covers all your bits without fear of wardrobe malfunction, and would be fine.

*Shakes fist at BCC* DAMN YOU AND YOUR FASCIST PANTS POLICIES!!!

*thinks* OK, so if pants less Spoiler is un-doable, I need to think of something even better.

What is cooler than taking off your pants.

Hmmmmm...

Hmm... yeah that's a good idea. Whenever we say the word of the day, everyone takes off their pants! No... wait... DAMMIT!!!

Man all the fun is getting drained out of having a 18+ label. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

If you think this is funny, come to our panel... with your pants on regrettably.

I'm not going to be at your panel due to age restrictions, but if they are forcing you to wear pants, how about wearing more pants than anyone else! Everyone can wear their underwear over their pants! In memory of the late great quail man.

You could still do something reminiscent of "no pants" though, couldn't you? Alabaster said pajama type stuff would be cool, and they make pajama shorts (at least for women); my fiancee is quite fond of them in the summer. That would technically be "pantsless" while still allowing for enough coverage to prevent any no-no parts from slipping out. Barring that, would swimsuits be acceptable? While they technically look like underwear, they are generally designed to be a little more resistant to accidental slippage. Again, I don't know BCC policy well enough to say that you could actually do this, but given that I've seen girls in costumes that more or less look like they're running around in little more than their underwear *cough*Felicia*cough* there must be an acceptable way to do something similar.

Hell, if you did bathing suits (assuming acceptability) maybe you could randomly run around and squirt people with water bottles or something if they say the word of the day (I don't think water guns would be allowed, otherwise I'd say giant super-soaker to the face).

We did have a plan about spraying down the audience with supersoakers filled with Tang for the Evangelion spoiler. We never did it because we couldn't remember if they still made Tang. Also, you know, logistics. Buuuuut if the BCC is OK with Tang Supersoakers that might be doable...

mmmm Tang. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif)

Most likely not though.

I assure you Disorganization XIII has the fullest respect for Otakon's policies and will abide by every rule and guideline set forth.

On a related note, we only handle the highest quality pantsless tang (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) .

We're all for having fun, but honestly it seems like every year people come up with just crazy stuff that is NEVER going to be allowable in public or in polite company.

Just because you're at a con, that doesn't mean the rules of everyday life are completely suspended.

Hey, like I said before we will respect all of your rules (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy.gif) . We aren't going to do this pantsless, so you don't have to worry.

I would however like to point out last years Anime USA 18+ Anime Parliament Panel where I argued for flying tentacle penis demon paternity rights, totally pants-less. Then there was that time I saw topless models in an 18+ how to draw manga panel. OH, and then there was that time people did a strip cabaret number at a masquerade. Oh and not to mention the anime burlesque shows I have been too.

Like I said the Otakon staff doesn't have to worry, we won't do anything against Otakon's policies, however what is "allowable in public or polite company" is kind of a subjective thing. Other conventions have done it before. It's just a matter of what the e-board wants to allow or disallow. Just becuase Otakon has a strict "pants only" policy doesn't mean it won't happen elsewhere.

... hmmm I wonder what NYAF's policy toward pants is.

Well since we've established there will be pants and this discussion has run its course I am going to lock this topic.
Good luck with the pantlessness at NYAF!
