I am curious as to why there are 2 forums? They both seem to serve the same purpose, or am I ignorant of their function? I looked for a sticky to see when to use one over the other, but couldn't find any, and a board search came up dry. The postings didn't seem to indicate which one is preferred for what, either.

If it's something light, it should go in chit chat. If it's a serious question that you want serious discussion about - Discussion.
Mostly it's intent, I guess. Self policed intent.
