Still suggesting Kishidan and Tohru Fujisawa! I believe Kishidan just released a new single..?
But either (or both!) would be amazing. They've done 2 or Naruto themes, three if you count Lie-Lie-Lie by DJ Ozma (who's also Show Ayanocozey's, the leader of the group Kishidan, alter-ego)
and Fujisawa ... GTO is just too memorable for me. It's my favorite series both manga and anime-wise, so if he were to come...
(He did do a mini-arc type thing for it last year I believe, with Shonan 14 Days..)

Just thought I'd add a few more...

Aoi YŪKI - Madoka Kaname from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Ichigo Amano from Yumeiro Patissiere, Koto Yumeno from Onegai My Melody (I found out that she voiced the title character on Madoka Magica even though I haven't seen the series yet. I'm actually more familiar with some of her other works, like Ichigo and Koto.)

Janice Kawaye - Alice from Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, Yuzu Kurosaki from Bleach, Ami from Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Jenny from My Life as a Teenage Robot, Gi from Captain Planet and the Planeteers

I was never very Particular about Japanese guests but some Pandora Hearts people would be pretty rockin' considering my group's plan. ;)

So, Tacking that on to my lengthy list of english VA requests from page 1.

Speaking of my Lengthy List: I'm adding Eric Vale (Is it just my bad math skills & Lack of Caffeine or is it not interfering with his Anniversary this Year?) Jason Liebrecht (I've been Obsessed with Black Cat lately) and Travis Willingham since he backed out of AUSA.

I think That's all for now.

Edited by QuinnTheSpazz, 08 November 2011 - 03:40 PM.

Otakon 2014 cosplay plan(s) (as of now): (yes I know it's early but I don't care!)

Friday: Tsukitachi from Karneval
Saturday: Kaito Jeanne from Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne (gonna have a Kaito Sinbad and possible Noin Claude with me!)
Sunday: Ayato Naoi from Angel Beats (Possibly with an Otonashi and/or a Yui!)

I think I read somewhere before the last Otakon, that they were interested in bringing in some more Korean aspect. (I spent most of my souvenir money at the Kpop booth)
SO for some requests, how about some Kpop bands! *wishful thinking*

Bands:
The impossible-but-still-wish-for-anyways groups: SNSD, Super Junior, 2ne1(although since they just won Best New Band in the World from mtv, YG might be more relenting to american shows.), TVXQ, Big Bang, 2pm

SLightly less impossible: U-Kiss (some of their members are from America, Eli is actually from Virginia), Miss A, KARA, AA, B1A4, Boyfriend, T-ara,

Solo artists/ Actors: Park Shin Hye, Kim Hyun Joong, Lee Minho, Kim Soohyun

Although I doubt any of these will actually happen, I'm just throwing ideas out there. Honestly, if any Kpop band came I would be forever happy.

Thanks! Alison

Otakon 2013
Thursday: Bittersweet Lolita
Friday: Galatea from Claymore
Saturday: Galatea from Claymore
Sunday:  Yachiru from Bleach

Message me if you have any photos of a Maka or Zatsune from Otakon 2012. That might be me!
Thanks!

We have Korean bands in our sights, but to be frank, the ones we would be interested in are focused on the Asian market, which is very lucrative for them. When they have a stadium full of fans paying $300 to get in, there is no way to compete effectively.

That's what I was afraid of. The companies are aren't very lenient to tours as far out as America, some groups have just performed shows in Paris and London and that was a huge leap for and Korean band.

Ahh, well, one can always hope. Maybe we'll be pleasantly surprised during these next few months.

J. Michael Tatum, because Voice Actors After Dark just wouldn't be the same without him.

Daniel Fredrick, the voice of Grell from Black Butler, because he's never been to a con before, and it would be amazing to see him at Otakon.

(And any other voice actors from Black Butler. And of course, Yana Toboso, the mangaka)

First let me commend the Otakon Staff for doing a stupendous job each year of providing high quality, fresh musical acts. When you think about the "mission statement" that guides their choices you must realize truthfully how hard they work to produce the best they can given the constraints of budget and timing. With that having been said you may add my "impossible"(just being realistic here) list of requests to all the others.

Do As Infinity COMA-CHI

Al, I know you said that DAI has toured 'extensively' in the US before, but I never had the pleasure to see them live... only online via live streamed shows. If you can get them to come to Otakon at least once in the coming years I'll be super duper happy. ;)

I'd like to second Kugimiya Rie though. She's so iconic as Shana/Taiga/Aria etc. I'd die happy to see her do her characters' voices. It'd be bizarre and awesome all at once.

adding to my list of desired seiyuu:
Terasoma Masaki. He doesn't do lead roles usually, or A LOT of anime, but he does some popular stuff (hidan in Naruto, for example) and also does theater and did some kamen rider and is an awesome oyaji seiyuu ;)

And I don't remember if I mentioned her, but Matsumoto Temari would absolutely make my day. She's the mangaka for Kyou Kara Maou, a handful of yaoi titles, a lot of novel illustrations, and recently, she put out a shoujou called Cubism Love.
Cosplay 2011: Kagetoki (Haruka3), Michiru (zombie loan), Milard/Mirald (Tales of Phantasia)
Cosplay 2012: Sarasa (Basara), Veigue - Carta style (Tales of Magic Carta/Rebirth), Michiru (Zombie Loan)

Would it be impossible to get Jesse McCartney ( *Shiver* ) and or Haley Joel Osment just because they're movie/music stars before/after just doing Kingom Hearts games? Of course, any other members from the KH cast would be cool, FF XII/XII-2 too.

Here's her website.

TGWTG is pretty cool groupwise, but they don't exact tie into Otakon's mission statement. They're more general geekery and notsomuch Asian culture.

You're missing the point here. While it's true the TGWTG is a great site (and I can see them running panels at the con), they're not the type of people that Otakon is looking for in terms of "guests".

People we typically invite as guests: directors, actors, producers, writers, artists, musicians; people who create Asian popular culture or are deeply involved in bringing it to you

People we don't typically invite as guests: people who are known for their blogs, fanfics, podcasts, or youtube videos

Not that there's anything wrong with thinking bloggers, etc. are kind of awesome, but even when they are relevant to our mission, people who talk about art are not as cool as people who make it. Many of them come on their own, many of them come as panelists.

I'm requesting JewWario (Justin Carmical) again this year. He said he would LOVE to come if he was requested. That would be epic. Please oh please oh please?

hell yes. lets bring all of the TGWTG members

TGWTG is pretty cool groupwise, but they don't exact tie into Otakon's mission statement. They're more general geekery and notsomuch Asian culture.

Although I agree that most of the TGWTG doesn't, JewWario reviews imports from Japan that Americans can play without much difficulty. I'm not sure exactly what Psychotaku and Psychoneko do, but I think he'd be perfect.

I think the Psychotaku does the same thing as JewWario and Psychoneko did a series of videos called Anime Basics where she discusses certain cultural aspects of Japan

I know she does stuff that is related to Asian Culture, I just have never sat down to watch her formally.

The overarching point which I alluded to and Alabaster further explained is, bloggers/online personalities such as this aren't what Otakon looks for in terms of guests. As Jim pointed out, personalities of this caliber typically can apply to run a panel and come on their own volition. The anime basics segment you describe certainly sounds like a panel topic.

You are of course free to do that -- but there is no guarantee that he'd get a panel approved. It's a fiercely competitive field of panelists.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, it's high time we got Hideaki Anno to come back to the states.

I seriously doubt it's feasible, considering he'll probably be super busy this year wrapping production on Evangelion 3.0, but I can dream, can't I?

I'd actually really like to see Nobuhiro Watsuki. With the release of a new Kenshin anime and live movie, seems like a good idea!

My dream guest would have to be mangaka Kiyohiko Azuma (Azumanga Daioh, Yotsuba&!). I adore his off-kilter sense of humor, and on top of that, his recent work showcases a frightening level of skill with an ink pen.
