Full Version: DBZ future trunks question

The Fly
I'm seriously confused. In DBZ:Budokai 3 Future Trunks has a Super Saiyan 2 transformation. There's no way he was SS2 during the cell games or he would have beaten him easily. So did he go SS2 at any point of the series?

Fly, I asked my resident DBZ expert and as far as he can remember future Trunks never went SS2 in either the anime or the manga. It's just in the game. As far as I can remember (made to watch all of DB/DBZ/GT too) Gohan was the first to go SS2 during the Cell Saga.

this is how i understood it. the best you could say is that after the cell saga, in his dimention, he had poweed up so mch that he was able to completely wipe the androids and cell on his own. so he has two power rating, before the saga and after it. but never a ss2.
The Fly
Looking around, i noticed SS2 Trunks figures as well..

and heres the SS Trunks

Something else.. notice Trunks, this would be the Super Saiyan form

Now notice this, in the cell games his hair is more outwards , this is most likely the confusion.. but i believe it's only the fact that his hair grew in the hyperbolic time chamber.

Interesting, though I definitely agree Trunks was not strong enough to be SS2 in the future timeline either.

that form of trunks in the toy pic is ss2 though, which is why i'm so confused. thats just a bulky form that trunks thought was strong enought to defeat cell, but he was wrong. Goku even made it to that power level and sad it sucked because it was too slow so he made Gohan and himself train past it.

trunks never went ss2 in the series unless you're talking about kid trunks, i'm pretty sure he went ss2.

Ok, im sorry to say this but i can answer you question. I use to be obsessed with DBZ long ago and new everything about their transformations. What your talking about, that America didnt bring over to the US is called, Ultimate Super Saiya-Jin. In US, they called it Super Super Saiya-Jin.

Now here's the explaination what it is. USSJ is the form between Super Saiya-Jin and Super Saiya-Jin 2. There was a big downfall with that transformation. You could only control 2 out of the 3 types of your power at a time. There was Speed, Attack, Power. In the cell game in the anime, he gets his ass kicked by cell easily. But in the game, like several of the other sagas, they wont let the character die like their suppose to. So you have to win with Ulimate Super Saiya-Jin Trunks.

If you look at Vegeta too, he too achieves Ultimate Super Saiya-Jin in the anime and game. But in the anime, Vegeta and Goku both stated that they have reached that stage, but wont use it cause its uncontrollable.

And thus ends that discussion.
The Fly
That explains it.. thanks. smile.gif

It's too bad.. even with control over 2 out of 3 powers, I'd think he would have had a better chance against Cell.
Guyeg
he couldnt beat cell man, his name didnt start with Go, so that dervives him of any chance of being the hero in an epic battle. we had to wait for gohan to turn to ss2.

This is why DBZ will never "die". Even after 10 years (?) it still has its controversy. smile.gif

If you remember, when trunks comes out of the hyperbolic time chamber and goes out to fight cell, he goes ussj (called an ascended super saiyan) You can tell because he just has the gold hair, but it's not waiving around.

Think "Super Vegeta" but apply it to Mirai Trunks. Same SSJ level, its the inbetween stage of SSJ1 and SSJ2.
