  1. 2023's theme for Otakon is trains, since I haven't seen a discussion thread set up for trains, let me start one if that's OK with everyone! A pretty recent development regarding trains in the US is there is a group known as the Northeast Maglev that is working with the Central Japan Railroad Company on an attempt to bring Central Japan Railroad's SCMAGLEV (SuperConducting MAgnetic LEVitation) train technology to the NEC (the NorthEastern Corridor). This high-speed passenger rail train line is proposed to go between Washington D.C. and New York City with an approximate one-way
  2. To get inexpensive food and drinks from a place that's open 24/7, a 7-Eleven opened in 2020 that's a very short walking distance from the convention center, I created a thread about it: 7-Eleven has opened what seems to be the future of US 7-Eleven stores in Washington D.C. that's open 24/7 and is within close walking distance from the Mount Vernon Place entrance of the convention center. 3. I have found something that I consider to be pretty interesting and would like to share it. 7-Eleven has opened what seems to be the future of US 7-Eleven stores in Washington D.C. that's open 24/7 and is within very close walking distance from the Mount Vernon Place entrance of the convention center. The newest stores that 7-Eleven is opening in the US are being referred to as "evolution stores." These stores are much larger in size than the typical US 7-Eleven store and it seems like 7-Eleven is attempting to change publicly what 7-Eleven is typically associated with selling by usi
  4. It's been a while since I last posted on here. I'll try to stay in touch here. I have sad news to report, earlier this morning, Sunday, February 21st, I learned that long-time Otakon staffer Chuck Shandry has passed away. I met Chuck at Otakon a while ago and he was such an awesome person to talk to. Chuck could be found working registration at con and also he helped start the Otamuseum with a generous donation and years after the start of the Otamuseum, he could be found roaming around in the Otamuseum telling stories about past Otakons to interested people. I've heard Chuck de
  5. This Baltimore Business Journal article provides an update on the proposed expansion to the Baltimore Convention Center, the update is the expansion will not occur due to the current cost estimate of expansion which is estimated to be more than $1.5 billion, much more than the previously announced estimate of $600 million: https://www.bizjournals.com/baltimore/news/2020/02/04/baltimore-convention-center-expansion-plans-scaled.html
  6. First food place that is expected to open sometime in 2020 is a Wawa located at 1250 H Street NW: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/341557014662610946/625565496137351188/000000000Capture000000.PNG According to Google Maps, this Wawa will be an approximately 10 minute walk from the Walter E. 11. This version of IP.Board is pretty awesome, thanks for upgrading to it Otakon!!!

  12. Well poop. I wish I had known of this at Otakon: I was Princess Peach from SSBB. Darn! Please look at the dates of threads before posting people. This was from 2008-09.
  13. I play Team Fortress 2 as well. Steam ID is KSweeley.
  14. Me either.... I hope McGlynn has a panel and a autograph session.... I also hope there will be a lot of interested people in having a Silent Hill meetup... Well, looking at the preliminary schedule that Otakon did post, McGlynn will have two panels, the first on Friday from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM and a second on Saturday from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, both in Panel 4. So if there's anyone interested, we could have a meetup on Friday from, let's say 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, that way if everyone at the meetup would be interested in going to the Friday McGlynn panel we could go as a group to it and w
  15. Me either.... I hope McGlynn has a panel and a autograph session.... I also hope there will be a lot of interested people in having a Silent Hill meetup...
  16. Okay, it's July everyone, 1 week, 4 days until Otakon. Is there *any* Silent Hill fans on here who are interested in doing a meetup at Otakon 2009? Where? When? *super sad face*
  17. So... Since it's only 2 weeks, 3 days away from Otakon, who is interested in a Silent Hill meetup? I am interested in organizing one during Otakon and am wondering when and where should we have a Silent Hill meetup? Since McGlynn is going to be a guest at Otakon this year, I'm thinking maybe a little bit before McGlynn's panels (maybe 30 minutes to 1 hour before) that way if there's Silent Hill cosplayers attending the meetup, there will be some time set aside for pictures to be taken of the cosplayers by interested people. If any Silent Hill fans are interested, let's exchange screennames for
  18. Awesome!!!! Unfortunately, that is true, neither Sony Pictures Entertainment or Konami has released an official Silent Hill movie soundtrack to date. I also totally love the movie and it's one of the only movies that are truly based upon the source material (a video game). To any interested people who would want to organize a Silent Hill meetup and I would love to chat with fellow Silent Hill fans, PM me your AIM SN if you have one. Thanks!!!
  19. YAY!!!! Another Silent Hill fan. I hope there are more on here so I can try to organize an actual Silent Hill meetup at Otakon 2009.
  20. I'm not totally sure if there will be a Silent Hill panel at Otakon 2009, does anyone know if there will be one??? I'm very interested in organizing a Silent Hill meetup at Otakon 2009 if there's enough Silent Hill fans attending Otakon 2009. How many people are attending Otakon this year who are also Silent Hill fans?
  21. Now they're saying September... September is also being reported on a Baltimore area transit forum that I'm a member of, due to the bus manufacturer having issues: Link: http://monumentalcity.net/phpBB/viewtopic....ec84cd3158cb2ac (must be a member to view the thread)
  22. So, anyone else who are Silent Hill fans planning on coming to Otakon? It would be awesome if we all could do a meet up somewhere and if everyone is willing, we could exchange AIM SNs and we could chat about Otakon and Silent Hill before Otakon.
  23. Any Silent Hill fans going to attend Otakon this year since Mary Elizabeth McGlynn has been confirmed as Otakon 2009's very first guest? I am a big Silent Hill fan and I am going to go to Otakon this year.
  24. I hope that this free shuttle service will launch before Otakon so all the Otakon attendees can use it, hopefully BACVA is helping with this shuttle service and sees the great benefits of having it running during Otakon 2009.
  25. I hope this shuttle bus service will be up and running by Otakon 2009. I would use it to check out Harbor East and the restaurants and shops that are on Charles Street that are pretty far away from the Baltimore Convention Center.
