  1. Otakon 2017 Dance Feedback

I agree. It was awesome to see an old school DJ like AK1200 still spinning glorious DnB.
  2. Otakon 2017 Hotel Feedback

Stayed in the Marriott Marquis. Pros: --Yummy breakfast buffet in the restaurant downstairs. A lot of choices to fill up on and it was around $20. --Great bars/restaurants right in the hotel. Also a Starbucks. --Staff seemed generally unprepared for the masses descending on the hotel over the weekend, but they were very friendly and accommodating. The cookies offered on check-in were a nice touch. --Tunnel connection was great to have during the rain. --Bag check to get into the tunnel caused a bad line that delayed con entry on Friday morning, but it seemed to have been corrected after that morning because I never had to get back into a line after that. --Mini-fridge in the room was pretty spacious, and the rooms were extremely clean. Beds were comfortable. --I never had to wait for an elevator. I attribute this to there being 2 separate banks of 4, so 8 total. --Gift shop was a great option for a quick snack or a drink, and not too pricey. --Lobby entrances in both the front and the back of the hotel. Cons: --Starbucks closed at 6 pm. --Late night noise. I always bring earplugs and had a white noise app on my phone because I expect some level of late night room happenings at con, but I could hear every word in the conversations happening next door. Our room faced the street in the front of the hotel, so we also heard every horn and siren very clearly. --The air conditioning in the lobby and con areas could have been turned back a touch imo. It was like winter time freezing levels and it even made my teeth hurt. I would stay at the Marriott again, but it looks like Embassy and Renaissance might be great contenders for next year.
  3. Food Recommendation Thread!

Just wanted to say thank you for this recommendation. It was just a quick walk from the convention center, and the noodle soup and the freshly made dumplings were amazing and so cheap! Also a ton of other things to choose from on the menu that I'm sure are just as yummy.
  4. Future Request: Quiet Floors

I love this idea! I generally expect room gatherings and late night laughter at con, but I'm also used to hotels having a white noise machine. There isn't one in our room this year, so I downloaded a white noise app on my phone and that's been helping to drown out the noises pretty well, but I think a quiet floor would be a great compromise.
