Usually it's a nice mixture of the Pillows and other songs found in anime: like the entire Initial D soundtrack, the theme songs to Love Hina and Neon Genesis, and some Glay thrown in for good measure. Oh, and the Outrun 2 soundtrack. Rockin'!

I can't wait to try California Tortilla this year. A Philly Cheesesteak burrito? Come on.. you can't go wrong. Question is, are they cheap?

Anime shows that never should have exsisted

I'm not sure if this counts, but the dubbed version of Initial D is an atrocity! -
I'll probably only be there to buy Japanese versions of manga (like Initial D, etc.), and maybe a few DVDs, so I hope to spend no more than $75 for Otakon stuff. Dining in Baltimore, however, is another story. There's a place called California Tortilla, which is right across from the convention center, and that's where I plan to spend the bulk of my money (ha, ha)!

Don't worry...you have to work really hard to NOT have fun at Otakon! It's always a blast!
-
I'm rewatching Neon Genesis and Initial D ('cause I never get tired of either of them!). I just watched the first four eps. of Full Metal Alchemist, as well. Great stuff!
-
Any movies with Takeshi Kitano in them (Zatoichi, Battle Royale, etc.)!

I'm a HUGE fan of HP, but even though the sixth movie looks awesome, I just can't imagine tainting my Otakon weekend with something that is not even remotely Otakon-related.

How much was your trip to Otakon?
SnappleLlama replied to Amacfa's topic in Post Otakon 2008 Discussion
Hmm...I'll have to approximate! $55 for pre-reg $250 my share of the hotel expenses, Thursday night through check-out Sunday $20 Dealer's Room $125 food/red bull/coffee (most of the food was bought at California Tortilla, which was DELICIOUS!) $3.50 for one Day Pass (one of my friends paid for the other two days!) $40.00 gasoline (from Central PA) Total: $493.50 (appx) It was such an awesome time, though...can't wait for next year!! -
Ah yes...I almost forgot....MORE FUCCONS!! Please show the Fuccons!! Hilarious!!
-
You say this, but then you go on to say
-
Oh yeah...that Pakistani zombie flick was classic (Hell's Ground, I think is was called?)!! More of that stuff, too!
-
Why don't we all just para para on the sidewalk on Thursday night?
-
I'm a huge fan of the classics, like Neon Genesis, Initial D, El Hazard, Love Hina, Chobits, Excel Saga....any classic stuff is fine with me! Also, a Friday night viewing of Akira would be awesome. An oldie, but a goodie! PLEASE stop showing episodes 23-26 of some random anime...it's hard to understand what's going on when we have to view the middle or end of a season!

Seriously, I used Hotwire. You can choose your hotel by star ratings, so it will come back with "Baltimore two star hotel for $ZZZ per night." You don't find out what hotel it is until you pay, but they only deal with quality hotels, so there's no need to worry! This is how I managed to grab a reservation at the Holiday Inn Express for only $129/night.

Call me cynical, but I rarely saw any great deals in the Dealer's Room. I'm a huge fan of Kawaii Gifts (plushies!!), but the prices they offered at the con were pretty much the same prices they offer online. The Squishables were way too expensive, at forty bucks a pop. Needless to say, I didn't get a single plushy, so I was a bit depressed about that I ended up purchasing: 1 Gloomy Bear keychain 1 Neon Genesis keychain (of the third angel, though it looks nothing like the third angel! LOL!) First Fuccons DVD Yep. That's it!

Use Hotwire and Priceline...gotta save some big bucks if you want to make a killing in the Dealer's Room!

Hey! I couldn't find a hotel through the Otakon passkey search, so I went through Hotwire. I managed to find an awesome deal at the Holiday Inn Express (any place with free continental breakfast is a winner in my book!). Does anyone know if it's feasible to walk to the Convention Center from there? I've heard it's not such a great area, but I'm used to the homeless people by now (2009 will be my fifth Otakon!).
