Absolutely... 17 years later & I have not forgotten, nor will I ever forget. RIP to the almost 3,000 who perished that day in NYC and those who have died since then of the horrible diseases working at Ground Zero has brought on, as well as those who passed on at the Pentagon and in a field in Pennsylvania....

i am more 'old school' in my photo-taking... I don't show them the picture on the screen (even though I have a DSLR) because 1) I don't ask them to pose any special way or try to take 'artistic' photos (but more power to those who do hold professional cosplay shoots), I just take personal snapshots to enjoy myself, plus it is likely I stopped on my way somewhere or stopped them on their way somewhere so we need to take the photo and move on 2) I do not post any of the photos I take online and 3) I am not looking to 'get my name out there' or make money. Back in the day, you could just take a photo and that was it, you moved on, the subject of the photo never asked for a copy or anything (then again, in the film days, getting them a copy was way harder)...

    Any other cons...?

See my signature... haven't been to Ota in a while, but hope to go next year... I attended two 1st-year cons last year: Colossalcon East (spun off from Colossalcon in Sandusky, OH), held a 20 minute drive from home at the Kalahari Indoor Water Park & Resort in Pocono Mtns. PA (much smaller than Ota)...and Anime NYC, which, while fun, I am not sure I will return to this year. Aside from those, my con experience has been all Otakon, New York Anime Festival (until NYCC swallowed it up), NYCC the 1st year it was combined with NY Anime Fest (2010, i think...again, see signature) and one Katsucon (1999)...

The Otakon 2019 Guest Request Thread

Not the least of which are 1) her commitments to family {just realized her daughter is 14 now... wow), 2) her being less active in the industry than in the 80's and 90's, 3) her near-legendary status in the industry probably meaning her travel/appearance fee/etc don't come cheap, and 4) her bad experiences at an American con in the past (obsessive fans, for one that I heard) souring her on the idea, even all these years later

The Otakon 2019 Guest Request Thread

Seiyuu ------------------ Hayashibara Megumi (eternal wish list member #001) Hirano Aya (yeah, her career is pretty low-key now, but Haruhism still runs strong) any of the original 5 Inner Senshi (especially Fukami Rica or Mitsuishi Kotono) Hidaka Noriko (Akane-chan forever!) Dub VAs --------------- Monica Rial Luci Christian Brittney Karbowski (though her panel may need to be rated R after hearing her B Gata H Kei outtakes as Yamada) Music ------------- BABYMETAL (eternal wish list members #002) BAND-MAID (these ladies, who have done a US anime con before at Sakuracon in WA, would rock the house! It would be AWESOME to have an all-female group, who actually play the instruments (no slight to BABYMETAL) at Otakon 2019!) Momoiro Clover Z

They want a business card so they know where to go to find the photo you took of them online or how to reach you for a copy of it otherwise, then they can also contact you to hire you as a photographer if they wish....many people who take pics nowadays are budding amateur or even professional cosplay photographers, many of whom present a business card automatically with each photo taken to promote themselves. Some cosplayers forget some people, like myself, are hobby photographers who shoot only for their own enjoyment and not to make money or 'get their name out there'. Maybe I better get a small box of business cards just in case I am asked...
  10. Blerdcon is Jul 12-14, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Virginia per their website https://blerdcon.com/, so no date overlap. Otakon 2019 is July 26-28, 2019, 2 weeks later... If Blerdcon had originally been scheduled for the same weekend as Otakon, they apparently rescheduled (possibly so as not to be cannibalized/eclipsed by Otakon)...
