  1. (snip)

So I guess my question is: Are they releasing blocks of rooms in the certain hotels at a time? Fill one hotels block before opening the next one up? I guess I just don't like this new reservation service especially if they aren't booking the rooms in the hotels system until July 9th. That would explain why the guy with Marriott was still showing rooms available in the Otakon block, since they haven't submitted them yet.

    I was just really confused.

  2. Finally, just maybe, a Philadelphia sports team can successfully bring a championship to the City of Brotherly Love for the first time in many years! I was but 4 years old when the Phillies took it in 1980, so I hope they can do it now to erase the bad memories of 1993...

Anyhow, to all my fellow Phillies Phans (I know you're out there!).. you gotta believe! 4 wins to go... as of this writing, the AL team is still undecided... if the Red Sox can make the miracle comeback I hope for (only because they might be an easier opponent for my Phihtin' Phills...), great. However, it's looking like Tampa Bay, meaning a tough road is ahead of the Phillies, as the Rays have been white-hot lately.

Plus, the IronPigs (Phillies AAA affiliate) are holding a free viewing party next Wed. for Game 1, watching it on the big video board at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, PA for all full/partial season ticket holders (that includes me) with free food & drink too! Can't wait to watch the game with thousands of other Phillies fans (though it's outdoors & will be cold, it'll still rock!)

    Finally...

    GO PHILLIES!!! :(

  3. Just two quick questions about reserving hotel rooms, since this is going to be my first time doing this and I want to DO IT RIGHT:

When you reserve a room, do you have to pay right then and there or after your stay at the hotel? Right now, I don't have the money to do so, and I'm not sure if my friends are going to go through with me on this, but I think that by next summer I should have saved up enough money for the room itself (being a poor college student sucks...). I'd really like to reserve a room now so that I can have a place to stay because this year I missed out on all of the late night panels and some morning panels ^_^.

Also, how old do you have to be to reserve a room? I'm going to be 20 in April next year, but I found on the Radisson website that you have to be 21 or older to reserve a room. Is this just a general thing with all the hotels in the area or is it best for me to just call and ask about it?

I really hope the rooms haven't sold out just yet...

  4. Hard Boiled

The Killer (NOT Ichi the Killer, but rather John Woo's The Killer w/ Chow Yun-Fat)

Battle Royale (if not in 35mm, then maybe in a screening room)

    5cm per Second

and, since a 35mm print ought to be available, as the piece is getting a limited theatrical run thanks to Bandai (license announced at NY Anime Festival):

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

  5. As since 2001, Greyhound all the way from here (Easton, PA) to Baltimore & back... not bad, one transfer in each direction (transfer in Philly going down Thursday morning, Harrisburg coming back Sunday night... though last 2 years the bus from Harrisburg has been delayed at least an hour from leaving H-burg to head back home, making my arrival at home around 8:30 instead of 7:15/7:30).

Round trip for me is generally less than $100, and I don't have to drive or find and pay for parking, so it's all good.

  6. I just booked yesterday at the Raddison Lord Baltimore, and they mentioned that when I arrive, I need to bring my "event invitation" for Otakon (I guess to prove I am attending and deserve the con rate). Can the Otakorp Hotel Liason inform them that our convention ISN'T by invitation, and that if they DO require proof of attending the convention, they should request people bring a printout of their convention registration reciept if they are pre-reg'ed, and some other suitable proof they are attending the con if they are not pre-reg'ed.

I'm not 100% sure what they were talking about
