That's my biggest concern with having the tracking number.  Ignoring being promised it and all, we were told (iirc, correct me if I am wrong) that these would HAVE to be signed for.  If they don't...that's great.  But if they do, those of us with jobs and other obligations need to know WHEN its coming so we can make arrangements to be sure its signed for.


  2. I think I know what you're asking.

    I'm pretty sure how it works is Otakon reserves the block now, but the passkey system doesn't send the detailed reservations until a week before the convention so that the hotel doesn't have paranoid people calling and asking about their reservations every other week. It's just easier for hotel staff that way. Also, you cannot reserve a room under the Otakon block directly at the hotel. You have to make it through the passkey system. In fact, if you try to reserve an Otakon block room at the hotel, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't know what you're talking about as it wouldn't be in their system yet.

    So no, technically all those rooms are not open and they are reserved for Otakon for the week surrounding the convention. All the reservation details sent through to the hotel systems on the 9th of July.

    You could of course reserve a room at the hotel's rate, or probably thorough Priceline or Hotwire or something like that.

  3. Maybe get together with people that are going to be hosting panels and have them do suggestions for the programming in some rooms?

    EX: On Friday or Saturday of the con I remember going to a J-Drama Panel, and some of that stuff sounded pretty interesting. It would have been great if there was a follow-up viewing of one or two of the shows they could have promoted later in the con. As awesome as they sounded, everything at the con sounded that way, and by the time one makes it to the Dealer's Room without an actual lasting impression some of those titles and ideas were lost.

  4. Welp once more my plans have changed, but being as my girlfriend actually bought patterns and fabrics this time it should all stay...

    She is going to go as Konata Izumi from Lucky Star (Summer Uniform), and I will be heading as Minoru Shiraishi (School Uniform) also from Lucky Star.

    Don't know how many days we will cosplay yet / if we will be doing that all three, but that's the plan for now at least.

  5. I start saving funds on January 1st. Depending upon my hours and desires/needs is how much I put aside. I'll aim to have my hotel money saved by February, Gas and Food by March or early April, and from that point on anything I do or dont' put aside just determines how much gear I can get.

    My first 45 minutes in the Dealer's Room. Seriously. I walked and just stared, people probably laughed at me. It was an overwhelming sight.

    Being shocked by my enjoyment for the Artist Alley.

    Walking around the Dealer's Room completely broke and still enjoying it.

  7. I have 3 dealer's I'm looking for, just to jot down then names for next year. Good deals and purchases to be had everywhere of course.

    Who was the table with the Code Geass Model Kits ($27-$33) that I saw? I only saw two people with them, near the back center wall.

    Who was the person in the center with the doujins and risque wallscrolls with the funny phrases over 'certain' body parts (You must mine more minerals, 2v2 bgh?, Need more vespene gas)?

    Who was it that was having the insane deals on the manga? It was like 30 for $150 or something crazy.

    Does anyone know WHERE exactly this supposed hallway linking the BCC and the Hilton will connect at? o_O Also if this will alter the convenience of getting into the con / pre-reg?

    Basically what I'm asking is, where in the convention center does it connect?

    Will we be allowed to use that to get in for Pre-Reg?

    Will we be allowed to use that to get into the con?

    Just checking, my friends have a reservation at the Days Inn also, and if the convenience isn't worth it...hmm...

  9. Hilton's back on the radar. I just got my Thursday at the Hilton added to my reservation. Got Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sunday night for a total of $816, $926.16 after taxes. May or may not drop the Sunday to bring it down to $612 ($694.62 with taxes) after awhile. Need to see what my group desires, but I wanted to cover all bases.

  10. Place I stayed: Renaissance Harborplace Hotel

    Number of people in room: 3

    Hotel Staff: Bellhops are awesome. Desk people are retarded. Food workers were a pleasure to talk to.

    Walk to the con center: Around 5 minutes.

    The bad: Didn't check for TV hookups, but I doubt there were any, they wanted you to buy there movies and such it seemed. I can't say for certain. However they DID charge an additional $150 ($50/night) that I was not told about for "safety" issues. We flipped because I called no less than 10 times asking EXACTLY how much I would need. So if you go there, make sure to plan ahead that money. They give it back to you at checkout, but its still annoying not to have it if you planned it for the con.

    The good: Decent sized room, no fridge, but it did have a coffee maker. Bathroom was nice and big, plenty of room to move around and get dressed but also got overly steamy in no time at all. Conveniently located to the Gallery for food / shopping if needed. Breakfast was reasonable, prices weren't too bad for food and drink inside.

    Would you stay there again?: Yeah but I'd do a little more careful planning with my money and timings.

  11. Well I just switched over from radisson to days inn. now it's only cost 30-40 a night each (+tax) =D. I heard that its a good hotel, but just like I asked with the radisson... anyone mind confirming it? I mean one block away, and directly in sight of the BCC.. seems fine to me, but how about staff and how the rooms are?
  12. I'd have to say the girl who staffed the end-of-line to the Dealer's Room Friday morning. XD She was under an extreme load of pressure it seemed, but she kept her cool and was more than happy to point you in the direction of somewhere else you could go if you chose to not get in line / it was full. Also the various Dealer's Room / Artist Alley staff in general who pointed me in the direction of the line I was heading to after losing track of buying stuff. XD

    Anyway, I got 2 nights at the Hilton. Thursday isn't available for some reason, so I'm planning on keeping that as long as possible and adding Thursday whenever I can. Until then, I have a reservation also from my friend at the Days Inn. $120/night for 4 people/room. Anyone else wants it it looks like more rooms are still available, and if / when I cancel mine due to a Thursday opening at the Hilton opens up, I'll put it here immediately for anyone else still searching for a room.
