  1. LOL The religious fanatic lady is the best public reaction story Ive ever read!
  2. How do you plan on organizing a meet-up with people on these messages boards that you've never met before? then there's the issue of people not showing up and you already reserved a table.
  3. Do you mean SPEED as in Takako, Hitoe, Hiro and Eriko? If so, they were indeed very popular in Japan, but they broke up 8 years ago. They did do a brief reunion a few years ago, but Hitoe is now a yoga instructor in New York and Eriko has a child. Hiro was a guest at Sakuracon, I believe. And Takako is usually always dating some cute boy idol.
  4. when I attend cons I generally either dont cosplay on sunday or Ill do a cosplay that's super easy and cmofortable. I already know what Im going to do for Friday and Saturday but I havent made up my mind yet for sunday. Is a bleach shinigami outfit easy or hard? [or overdone?]
  5. I never understood the tourists who look petrified. ya know it's just a costume. I can understand a confused look but why do some look like they are gonna literally jump out of their skin?
  6. It's not necessarily cheaper. Especially when you factor in the worth of your time spent sewing and crafting. *picks herself up off the floor* You hot glue fabric?! But why?! Sewing machines aren't even that expensive anymore. They have pretty good ones at Wal-Mart that run about $80-$100. And they're not as hard to use as everyone thinks. Push the pedal, make a straight stitch.
  7. last year I was coming into Baltimore from Washington, DC on the light-rail. It was early friday morning and I was carrying all my bags and stuff - including a very large cosplay prop. Carrying Aeris' pole did make me stand out a bit on the train. I was sitting in my chair when the conductor walked by, did a double take when he saw me, and then started laughing. He said, "oh no, don't tell me you're going to otakon too?" and he eyed the pole as he said this. I smiled and said yea. The conductor went on to say that he was seeing some odd things on the train all morning, but was excited to learn
  8. I would die if the j-pop group SPEED came as a musical guest, I SO love them.... but I dunno how popular they are among american fans or even japanese fans....
  9. They've stopped making the original Final Fantasy VII (to the best of my knowledge), as it's now two system iterations behind the front lines. If you're looking for a copy, your best bet is to look at secondhand sources (though those are also scarce, as the game is so popular).
  10. Isnt it cheaper to just make your cosplay? you could go to craft and thrift stores, ebay, or use stuff in your closet thats what I do anyway. and I dont know how to sew either so I just hot glue everything . works out just fine, as long as i dont wash anything i make....
  11. hmmm..... rock and roll fans mixed with cosplayers wandering around the downtown baltimore area. gee that'll be rather.... interesting
  12. I would like to see...... 1. wall scrolls and posters from older shows [which are becoming rarer now] 2. ANYTHING from hikaru no go 3. FF7 game - no one ever seems to sell it
  13. The washington, dc cherry blossom festival 'sakura matsui' has portable stages for outside performances..... why couldnt this work? we could have smaller musical groups, japanese drumming, etc on these type of stages - and they're also covered. 'course...... any outside performance in the inner harborplace would scare the locals more so than we normally do
  14. wow! i love FY cosplayers I've considered doing Takiko from FY:genbu kaiden but i already have a cosplay planned and prepared
  15. game shows on anime trivia were the audience participates would be fun. I really liked the otaku family feud that was at katsucon this year. I would also like to see cosplay making panels.... good ones
  16. Thanks for the hotel pic..... I'm relived 'cause it looks like I could fit 5-6 people in the room, like I did last year at the Lord Baltimore. I wasn't aware that there were fire codes but I really don't think that the hotel staff will care since they are making SO much $$ this con weekend. Maybe some of the more high-end hotels might say something but I don't think the Days Inn will. Last year me and 5 friends stayed at the Lord Baltimore and we were very obvious about all of us staying in the same room [not intentionally though] and the clerk just handed us 6 room keys..... just like that. B
  17. It actually might be cheaper to take planes, buses, and trains to the BCC since gas prices are going up and up. By the time summer rolls around gas is going to cost a first born child. Road trips to Baltimore may be out of the question for people that are far away. Im from Washington DC - 45 mins from Baltimore - and I am not even going to consider driving!
  18. How about ALL the badges be from classic anime shows since this is otakon's 15th year? and by classic I dont mean from the 70's and 80's
  19. wait, what do you mean by that? i hope you're talkin about the big expensive sheraton right next to the BCC.... 'cause i'm planning on staying at the one a couple blocks away, 'cause it was cheap, and i hope it stays that way...
  20. Thats a really good tip, thanks I know the exact material that you're talking about. I think that would only work for pieces of armour but since I have to make something that'll fit around my whole torso I have to find something more sturdy. I am thinking maybe some type of foam.
  21. That Sheraton hotel will eat into your bank account. I steer clear of the Sheraton I wonder if the new convention hotel will be resonably priced or $300+ per night. i hope not.
