  1. Number of attendees?

I believe we did. We definitely had a table in 2016, so it'd make sense we had one in 2017.
  2. Suggestion: bring back daily passes

I really need to remember to start using smile instead of regular Amazon, lol.
  3. Suggestion: bring back daily passes

That'd still be a ticket. The membership covers you as a member of Otakorp inc for a year. I forget what the membership year is, since I think it's different from the fiscal year, but I believe it starts in feb or march (I'm sure Matt can pop in and correct me, lol). Attending Otakon is just part of the membership, not the entire thing, so we can't discount a membership based on amount of time left in our annual meeting.
  4. Suggestion: bring back daily passes

Pretty much this. If we did, we'd have to start paying/charging ticket taxes (which you do not pay for being a member of Otakorp, Inc) and all prices would go up. No one wants prices to go up.
  5. That could be artist request, too. I didn't read the AWM riders, but I've definitely read riders in the past with things like "only take camera shots of the left side of so and so's head." Or "no close ups on this guy's face".
  6. Hotels 2018?

Eh, not really the case here. It's DC, anywhere that's a touristy location in the city is going to be pricey. It's less about distance and more about location.
  7. Were they in black shirts (Otakon staff) or red jackets?
  8. It was our space, that's pretty much where I lived the whole con, lol. I don't want to speculate, but you have to remember, the only thing going on up there that required member access where the events, the rest of the time it was sound checks or change overs. There's a lot of movement on that level during the times where access was restricted, so I'm sure it was made for many reasons.
  9. The 3rd floor was a restricted access area, so that part was true. I don't know all the details about why, but it was. Outside of event times, the only members allowed up to that level were masquerade participants.
  10. Food Recommendation Thread!

I believe they're on Open Table, so you should be able to reserve in advance and skip the wait. A lot of the places in the Gallery Place area have Open Table for reservations which can make life a little easier if you have a set time you'd like to eat.
  11. A lot of people have mentioned the TMR/JAM Project concert, so I'll just randomly pick yours to reply Otakon staff had no control over the mix for the concert, Anisong World Matsuri brought their production crew over from Japan. All the audio, lights, camera direction, etc.. were by the Japanese staff. The way they mixed the sound was their choice and how they normally mix the concerts for those artists. Other events, such as the Masquerade, it's a completely different crew, and we do have more control there, but for Anisong it was more or less completely hands off for our contractors and crews.
  12. Otakon 2018 Guest Request

Not sure, not my department, lol. I work in the Main Events hall so that's the only reason I knew.
  13. Otakon 2018 Guest Request

You're in luck, if I recall correctly, he's the one that was announced at Closing Ceremonies.
  14. What happened to the Art Exhibition area?

Maybe not, but that doesn't mean that halls and rooms in the BCC never had water (or worse) happen.
  15. Churches in town?

Since you mentioned a Catholic Church in your post, there's St. Patrick's in the Gallery Place area. It's the church the Pope went to a few years ago http://www.saintpatrickdc.org/ Oh and definitely walk if you can. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the convention center and a very busy part of the city.
