  1. This is the first time Otakon has used the PassKey system for reservations. Perhaps there was a fault or two in communication between Otakon, the PassKey system, and the actual hotel. Who knows, but the bugs will be worked out over time, I'm sure.
  2. Wow. I'm not a baseball person, but I think that's a great idea. I'm not part of Otakon staff, but I hope they look into this!
  3. Here's what I hope happens: As more rooms are booked & more contracts are signed people will book what they need - not just booking for the sake of booking. If they see a better rate they'll change over to a new hotel and cancel the older reservation...so that people who didn't get a room the first time through will be able to get one. That way it's fair to as many folks as possible. Good times. I suspect that as soon as something is cancelled it's updated via PassKey and would show up on the site. Does anyone know if it works that way?
  4. More hotels will be announced when the contracts are signed. I think we have several more that are waiting for a little ink. Also we're working on putting together a page on our website that will summarize the info and hopefully explain the interface a little. So much to do and so little time...
  5. I was ready to go to Otakon 2009 the second I hit my front door yesterday. And they had hotel rooms to boot! That was so full of WIN I'm having a hard time not smiling here at work!
  6. Best. Idea. Ever. There is something to be said for 'striking while the iron is hot' and the fact that you had new hotels for Otakon 2009 posted *as soon as I got home from Otakon 2008* was brilliant. BRILLIANT!!! I have my room already. My question is: What other hotels will be added? Will they use the same interface? I know you have just finished an AWESOME Con (top 5 experiences for me...maybe top 3!) but I figured I'd start this topic anyway. Oh, and for those who don't know there's a link to the hotels on the website. When you make a reservation thr
  7. As always I want to give a HUGE thank you to the entire staff there at Otakon! There's a reason I've been going since Hunt Valley...and you all are perhaps the most important reason! I thought the 65 minutes that it took us to pick up our pre-reg last year was fast...considering how far back we were in line last year...and we were further back in the line this year. And it only took about 35 minutes this year. A-flipping-mazing. Had a great time...and we have our reservations for next year already (and that was a GREAT move by the way!) Thank you,
  8. Sadly I am one of those who has *unfortunately* taken to monitoring the Otakon website for hotel info...and as a result it looks like I'm short (for the first time since Hunt Valley) on the room front for now. Are there any plans to add rooms that anyone is aware of? Or should I just chalk this up as the first Otakon I miss in over ten years?
  9. Just to chime in... I've been going to Otakon since Hunt Valley. That's a location, not a Miyazaki flick. I feel that I have a perspective that hasn't been presented here. There are certainly a lot of costumes each year for whatever the popular shows are at the time. Remember the endless line of Rei & Asuka Otaku? When did Washu finally retire that hair? Speaking of Dragon Ball Z...but you get the idea. What I enjoy is the tide as it changes from one show to the next...and seeing the occasional gem from a show that either used to be popular, or something that was
