  1. Did anyone take advantage of the badge pickups stations for those who stayed at the Marquis or Renaissance? How was the process for you?
  2. Staff Pool and Gofers have been working closer together for a few years now (and yes, have been to several orientations as well!). One of the changes I made during my Presidential years was to move Gofers from our "Member Services" division over to our "Staff Services" side, to try and keep Gofers more visible on the staff side. The heads of the two dept's will also sit down during the con over the last few years and go over the Gofer list. Staff Pool may even pick out some Gofers and watch them at work so they can make more and better recommendations.

The current policy (which I don't expect will change at this point) is that masks will be required to be worn in all convention areas in the Walter E Washington Convention Center and the Marriott Marquis. The "convention areas" of the Marquis would include spaces on the M2 level - Photoshoot areas and the connector to the Marquis. I don't know how individual photoshoots will be handled, but maybe someone in that dept will chime in.
  4. Sorry for the late reply, but the Billing Contact can be a different person from the one receiving the membership. Of course, you'll need to put the owner of the credit card's information in as a the billing contact.

We are asking a bit fewer questions this year than compared to last to help improve registration speeds, but there is a place for you to enter the details for each membership (called either "ticket" or "product" in Growtix). After the purchase is competed, you should get an email with your confirmation and a link to view your order online. Once you get into the Growtix "My Tickets" page, you should see something like this: The two red arrows are where you want to go.   6. Without getting into specifics, many of our contracts span multiple years, so it's not always a simple thing to "reconsider". That being said, it's certainly something we can ask about and seeing what steps they're taking to address. The article has no mention of police reports being filed, only "allegations on social media".

  9. Yeah, it does make it easier on the mail processing machines to have the envelope as flat as possible also means (hopefully) fewer delivery issues. Also means we can fit more badges into a single mailing for those who order multiple. Plus, it's better for the environment if you re-use a lanyard you already have! And yes, cost is also a factor since we didn't want to have to charge more than what we already are.

Note, we're still waiting on final confirmation for pretty much all the video rooms and photoshoots, so those rooms are currently empty.   12. We put in the main late last week, so please allow time for delivery. I'm double checking with Showclix why the tracking codes haven't been showing up in the system, hopefully that will happen today or tomorrow at the latest.
  13. We'll also have lanyards available for pickup if you don't have your own. Though re-using your own lanyards is good for the environment and helps save us money!
  14. We (Otakon) keeps a hold on a block of rooms in the Marquis for our own needs (staff rooms, guests, contracts, etc.). The unused rooms were recently released, hence the extra availability in the Marquis.

  16. Yes, sorry about that! I don't have a date yet but hopefully soon. I live in Oregon and have been affected by the big ice storm / power outages (we've had no power since Friday 2/12). Since I've had many people ask, the chickens are fine and the voting results have been...interesting.
  17. Agreed. Please keep this thread on topic. We're very sad to hear the announcement about AB2021 but know they're making the only decision they really can right now.
  18. We do have people exploring various options for ways to get you opportunities to help support us with things like limited edition 2020 merch. We'll also be looking into re-opening member registration so if you missed the early bird rate, you'd be able to lock in 2019's rate for 2020. Nothing official to announce yet, but keep your eyes out.

  20. Lastest word I've seen from ShowClix (as of ~10 hours ago) is that fulfillment on their end is complete -- this means all badges should have been placed in the mail. Please allow time for delivery and keep an eye on those mailboxes next week. Sounds like they're still working on getting all the tracking numbers imported, so it may be another day or two before they show up, but you can check their "My Tickets" page: https://www.showclix.com/my-tickets . (note, only the billing contact email address for the order can log into that page)

Generally we list the items in the activities page that we know are going to happen for the year, then when the forms or pages become available or get updated for the year, we'll make the link active. That being said, I'll try and poke that department to see if they have a new form for this year.
