More Bad news about Eating. Suggest other places in the area to eat
Daniel Perales replied to Ananegg's topic in Otakon 2008
Does that mean that Easy Wok is gone as well? I seem to remember the two of them being connected, although I'm not sure if they were run by the same people. If so that sucks majorly since they were the only places I would eat at during con. -
He's probably referring to (or at least thinking about, as he wrote his post) the Otakon con-goers who move plants into elevators, who party into the wee hours with a stuffed room, who sleep in hallways in hotels, and who get drunk and start harrassing late-night traffic.

Whether or not they care initially at check-in that you're stuffing too many people into the room, the hotel can and does reserve the right to cancel your reservations and kick you out if you're disruptive or obnoxious. Flaunting the fact that you have so many people in your room (whether by asking for extra towels, pillows, blankets, or other resources, or by making scenes in the hallways and elevators) is a good way to get yourself kicked out and to ruin Otakon's reputation with the Baltimore hospitality industry. Yes, they take in a lot of money Otakon weekend - but if you were keeping to

The Days Inn at State College was the site of the first Otakon. There was a Riding Bean and Lum standee to help us find the correct locations. It was the first time I saw Video Girl Ai too. Another joke I left out was that we can bring back the Dealer's Closet for the 15th anniversary.

That is a big problem but there is nothing the Con or the hotels can do about it. You can't prohibit someone from reserving three rooms.

chances are about 0.000000001% they will be ready

Ya I suppose...or they just have the money for one more night in a hotel. It's worth it, in my opinion though. You dont have to exit the hotel in the mass exodus that is Sunday morning and dont have to find a place to stash your stuff and thus dont miss half the con that day...plus I'm always 100 percent exhausted after Otakon and it's nice to not have to go home yet. I tried going to work the day after Otakon once and ended up going home halfway through the day because I hadnt really recuperated from the weekend. But back on topic, I dont know what it is, but every con I go to I get t

How did you get there/how are you getting there next year?
Daniel Perales replied to ota_retired's topic in Otakon 2008
They've never had a problem with my stuff. In fact, every time I've travelled on Amtrak, I've made a point of asking them if/where I'm to check my baggage. The only time I've had to was when I got the train from Portland to Central California. -
We'll look into that, but again -- that's capitalism at work, kids. I'm sure they sold out the 50-100 rooms we had available for our members pretty quickly, and once they've gone through the cheap rooms, they know damned well that our attendees want to stay there.
