  1. I finally opened the 20th Anniversary edition of The Transformers: The Movie and started watching it. Something seems off, then I notice that Hot Rod is fuchsia? They really messed up the colors in this version. Does anyone have the Blu-ray and is the update any better?
  2. I was wondering how it will be possible to hold Otakon, since the roll-out of vaccines is not looking good right now. How would you do Social Distancing anywhere in the rooms? How long would the line to the Dealer's Hall be with everyone 6 feet apart? I would be happy to keep my Otakon attendance streak going, but have my doubts about it occurring in 2021 safely. Time will tell.
  3. The Inner Harbor was already hurting when Otakon first got there. On the very first Baltimore year we went to pool hall with a name that started with Charles (Charles Billiards?) that was on the skywalk near the Hyatt. It was gone the next year, and nothing else was put in place as far as shopping or entertainment. The last year Otakon was in Baltimore they were turning that skywalk level into a parking lot. I would bet the hotels are really hurting too. Taking down the skywalks was not beneficial either, but they did not want to pay to rehab them from what I understand. Over time, Harbor Plac
  4. I have seen the same person wear the 1994 shirt to a bunch of Otakons. Stopped wearing mine when the colors started to fade, and the tongue was no longer pink.
  5. I was not sure which year it was, but that is also my favorite. Alas, it sits in a drawer never to be worn again because I don't want to wear it out.
  6. Gave most of my Otakon shirts away, but kept a few for sentimental value. 1994, 1995, the long sleeve black one (my all time favorite), blue denim shirt, and a few of the recent ones. Used to buy one every year, gave them to someone who would wear them.
  7. Not a contract person, and I was only speculating. Never heard of "force majeure" before. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Force_majeure
  8. I would visit the Barnes & Noble multiple times during the convention. It is sad to see them close that store, but I never saw the full check out lines there compared to my local B&N stores. πŸ™
  9. I will guess that future contracts will be a lot more complex. Maybe pandemic clauses?
  10. The Good: Otakon still going on in some way, even though we could not be at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center together. People willing to volunteer their time to entertain us. Much appreciated! πŸ˜€ πŸ€œπŸ€› πŸ™‚ The Bad: The volume levels on the presentations were all over the map. You could barely hear one person, but have your ears blown off when changing to a different channel. Would have liked to see a dedicated Anime channel, even if it was something we have seen 100s of times. Twitch has done Pokemon and Yugi Oh marathons, so it may be possible to get rights
  11. I saw some of it, and was jokingly going to put up a Good, Bad, Ugly thread for it. 🀭
  12. You can start fermenting your own con funk and have it ready by Saturday. Pop the sealed lid and PEW! Just like being at the real convention. πŸ˜†
  13. It is the end of game ownership. You rent the game until the company decides to pull the plug.
  14. I try to take the stairs when I can. That time in Baltimore where we were on the 24th floor I had to make exceptions. 😺
  15. First year I have not been to an Otakon since 1993. 😧
  16. I agree that this virus will whip around in some form again as the weather gets cooler. With respect to a virtual convention, it would seem like a complete waste for me. I don't want to sit there for 8+ hours staring at my 13 inch laptop screen with headphones, and the choices of content would be much more limited. Personally, I watch the new sub-titled anime at Otakon. The licensing contracts for broadcasting things would be a legal nightmare. Alabaster has mentioned before that level of licensing is one of the reasons they can't simulcast content at the convention. Can you imagin
  17. Not everyone is doing well in confinement. Some couples have found out it difficult to coexist by getting on each other's nerves, and at least a few celebrities have said as much. In the end the boom may be more of a pop.
  18. Let's hope the only Pandemic you encounter is from Accept. πŸ˜€
  19. I did not get to see the New Anime for Old Fans panel. I showed up 20 minutes before the panel and kept waiting for the previous panel to let out. Apparently, the people were in the room for that panel, and there was no space for anyone. A bunch of us were waiting outside to get in, and I gave up eventually. Hold it in a much bigger room next time.
  20. I rely on those printed schedules, because Guidebook is not available for my phone. Sad to hear.
  21. Go to your local Post Office and ask them about it. You may need to speak with the Delivery Supervisor. The local Post Office gave me the phone number for the Supervisor when I asked about stopping mail for the previous resident coming to my mailbox. Good luck!
