  1. Are there any plans on putting those commercials online? (or better yet--are they already on youtube or something?)
  2. I go to con for guests. It's my #1 agenda. But if I don't care for the guests, I just won't go. I realize it's not something that people have control over unless you are running the con yourself and handling the contacts, etc. I go to Otakon for more than just guests, however. I realize also a lot of people go to Otakon almost ritually (like me) and for most people they can attend only so many cons each year. It would be a downer if you "had" to go to Otakon anyways and none of the guests interested you. Still I probably won't whine about it. And if I do I definitely won't do
  3. Cospa. It's always kind of odd to see their goods sold by various vendors at a huge markup when they themselves could be selling it... Really like their tea cups.
  4. 5 guys is great occasionally but it's heart attack in a foil. potbelly's ftw.
  5. I guess this also means the line at Chipotle will be twice as long. But I get to check out some sexy hardware on the way to and fro...and maybe while in the line.
  6. Anyone know if the Ruth's Chris there is any good? I realize it's probably not relevant for most people reading this thread but they are having a summer sale for a 3-course meal for two right now...
  7. The Taiwan (and China in general, slowly)/Japan/Korea thing is peculiar in that I don't think it happens with another media market anywhere else. Perhaps it has to do with how they were all heavily influenced by the way Americans do business during their reconstruction era, I'm guessing.
  8. Glowsticks. But not for the rave--depending on the kind of live shows we have, they're kind of a necessary piece. I think it'll be useful for the Jam Project show. I guess I also think too much about how Japanese lives and American lives are different yet the same.
  9. Personally the lack of cosplayers (relative to normally dressed people--there were a lot of them) was refreshing. I enjoyed it where you can go to something that resembles a matsuri and not run into a bunch of strangely dressed people everywhere you turn. Thanks for the photos tho. Nice pictures from the concert.
  10. What are some good bars/pool places within walking distance to otakon? In prior years we've been doing our post-pre-con-registration gathering at Edgar's, which is a fine place to do it, but maybe there are some better options? My routine is basically get into a carpool sometime Thursday, get to the hotel at around 6pm and prepreg at 7-8. Then hang out with a bunch of internet people I don't normally see for dinner. It's a big group so we break up into >21 and <21 after that; some go to said Edgar's, others party at hotel rooms or elsewhere. We do this on Thursday mainly becaus
  11. hopefully i can skill some souls this otakon o/
  12. Anyone out there interested in running an anime blogging panel? Last year there was a podcast panel but none about blogging, which seemed a little odd.
  13. Damn, didn't hear about that. At any rate, it still would be great if Otakon can screen it. I know I will go see it again (even when I have it on blu-ray now)!
  14. So, uh, I'm a minor fan of 5 Centimeter per Second, which has now been screened in the US in a few places. Otakon 2007 was suppose to screen this, but we got a DVD instead...and it looked pretty bad. (At least, compared to how it looked when I saw it earlier this month during its "east coast premiere" in NYC.) Can we pretty please get the 35mm print of the film this year? I beg and plead only because this is probably one of the most visually stunning film I've seen. It's not like the new Appleseed movie, for example, where the visuals are there to impress and entertain. In 5cm/s, the
