Unfortunately, for the first time since 2001 I will be unable to attend the convention (I will have a shiny badge, so I got that going for me, which is nice). I am looking for someone who can attend one single autograph session in my place, for a price. If anyone is able, I will ship a signing board ahead of time. Please PM me for details.

Might be an issue for me as I completely forgot that my unfriendly carried over from 2020 registration and hence was assumed at my old residence. I updated my information on Showclix two days ago, but if they are going out while showing up as not yet mailed... ETA: Looks like I changed it just in time as it arrived here with the updated address.

Zero chance of herd immunity. Hell, we are struggling to reach that on diseases like measles anymore because of the anti-vax movement. -
I fully expect another round of Covid by September, even more so with the evidence of outbreaks right now in July (which had been the down season last year).

Myself and my friends are all vaccinated and will attend if they hold the convention this year. For context, I am a respiratory therapist that has been taking care of critical Covid patients in one of the nation's hotspots since last March. If I was not vaccinated or if I was immuno-compromised it would be tougher to make that decision.

To what extent could coronavirus impact the convention?

I would be completely shocked if this happened in 2020. The year is pretty much going to end up written off for major events like conventions (and most sports, concerts, etc). -

Otakon 2019: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Ugh, that was a kick in the groin. I tried hitting his signing both days, but the line had been cut a half hour early on Friday (not a big deal since it was a two-hour block) and then Saturday I was told his line was over and he had left at 3:30 (scheduled session was 3-5). -
I think it is entirely dependent on the mail carrier. My mailbox requires a key, my badge was not left in it.

This might be something you are still working out, but with Pony Canyon bringing them both over, are Seiji Kishi and Shinji Takamatsu going to be doing a joint signing session or separate ones?

Yeah, this is always going to be a problem with a lottery system. People are going to enter the lottery almost regardless of whether they really are interested in what the lottery is for, simply because it is free and takes virtually no effort.

Most of the members of the band performed previously as Stereo Pony. They did the opening theme for the second Darker Than Black series.

Same as every year really. I put the money down for hotel/food/plane/other essentials and my spending money is whatever change I save over the previous 12 months, bottle returns, and winnings from our hotel room poker tournament (last year these combined to equal $480).

Hmm, is the Hilton Otakon block of rooms only available online? I attempted to make a phone reservation and was told that there is nothing listed under Otakon for group rates, etc.

Thursday night, after pre-reg badge pickup, our group goes to Hard Rock for dinner followed by a winner-takes-all poker tournament (winnings must be spent in the dealer's room).

I determine my spending money (dealers room, art, etc) by the amount of change and bottle deposits I have saved over the past year (last yeas was $165, this year will be more) and whether I win our IRC channel's Thursday night poker game (which I did win last year, giving me an absurd $320 in all for merchandise).

Update: As of 12 PM today (9/6/07) Holiday Inn says the Otakon block is sold out. Radisson Lord Baltimore did NOT have Otakon rooms for Thursday night (under triple) but DID have rooms for Fri/Sat.
