Most looking forward to thing at Otakon 2019?

What's everyone looking forward to the most at this proclaimed/considered to be 25th Anniversary / 26th calendar year Otakon? I'm hoping for some anniversary merch, like make a new hat, since my hat I got at the 20th anniversary con back in 2013 is all beat up, since I've been wearing it every day for the past like 6 years.. lol. Some commemorative stuff like mugs or other things would be cool... Anyone else have anything to add?
  2. Haha it's okay.. I need a break anyway...
  3. I might be jobless by then, so that's why the "dunno not sure yet". Yeah I doubt I'll be able to go at this point.... It's okay though.. I'm sure they'll come to the US again at some point.
  4. The Sailor Moon musicals are spectacular! I hope I go to the NYC show... Not sure yet... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Any other cons...?

I've been a con goer since 2009 starting with Anime Boston and it blew me away! Let's see... here are the cons I've been to since 2009: Anime Boston 2009-present Anime Central 2012-present and Otakon 2009-present NY Anime Fest/NYCC 2010-2011 (don't get me started on how ReedPOP merged NYAF and NYCC.. it boils my blood) I'd really like to attend MagFest at some point, but I don't think it's in the cards right now....

    How was your hotel?

Oooh I stayed at the Grand Hyatt with my group too! We also had 5 ppl, and they didn't say jack diddly sh*t! I can echo what PoliWhirl say in terms of their staff... Super nice and accepting of us crazy kids/young adults lol in our cosplays of characters that I bet they've never seen before. It's a bummer that there was no free breakfast with the room, but my room was decently big enough for us 5. I slept on the floor because by the time I got back from the day's festivities each night both beds were occupied/claimed. lol. I had no problems with that. Next year my group might wanna do an AirBnB or something in the area if we can plan it in time. There's also a new closer Residence Inn by Marriot (Residence Inn Convention Center) opening on September 1st (or something early September) that I hope Otakorp partners with for con-rate rooms. They have all suites (Studio/1BR/2BR)... ..Anyway, my hotel experience this year was great. Better than last year when we stayed in the Comfort Inn Convention Center in 13th St NW or w/e it was.

You should get a Project Diva Future Tone machine! They're available for straight out purchase now apparently.

    Arcades thread the third

Soooo my area Round 1 (Silver City Galleria, Taunton, MA, about an hour south, depending on how you drive from Boston area) finally has a Project Diva machine (I was super hyped to see it there...apparently it's been there for around 8 months, and no update to their social media? -_-). I was there recently, but their stupid "Aime Network" or w/e... their authentication network for the games, was down... but kinda up at he same time, as some of the machines worked.... like the DDR A machine they have, and various crane game machines. I was disappointed that I couldn't play and play horribly because I'm nowhere near used to the flat arcade button layout (for Project Diva), but I really wanted to play anyway. I know the charts for most of the songs since I have the PS4 port. At least now any time I trek down there I should be able to play given the network doesn't derp out again, and it's not during maintenance moments. That's a pseudo update, but actually before I close this out I just wanna share this news as well in case people don't know: convention arcade game provider Tokyo Attack has achieved the impossible. They were able to get or get the rights to not one but TWO (!!) Hatsune Miku Project Diva Future Tone Arcade cabinets! I'm super excited for that since they usually come to Anime Boston (coming up in late March 2018), Anime Central, and Otakon. I really hope they show up with those two machines (or at least one) at at least one of those three cons that I'm attending. OH I hope they show up at Anime NYC 2018 as well... but anyway at this point I'm just rambling.

I know these aren't quite nearby, but there are 3 new Round1s opening up. • One in upstate New York (can't remember its town/city name at the moment) • One on Long Island (Hicksville, NY) on July 1st (this weekend!) I wish I could go to its grand opening... it's the closest location that'll likely have a Future Tone machine... I have a connection that says he saw an FT machine there as they're prepping for the big opening moment... and • One in Saugus, MA in the Square One Mall (here's to hoping they get an FT machine because Saugus, MA is much easier for me to get to than the previous MA location in Taunton, MA (Silver City).

    Guest Request: 2015

Those're actually mostly the reasons why I attend anime conventions (not just Otakon). I work in retail and when I tell my long time customers about my anime etc hobby and that I attend conventions surrounding it and they remember that I go to certain ones during certain times of the year it makes me feel accepted....lack of a better way of describing it. Back at Otakon 2012 I was able to attend the Hirano Aya concert, and that blew me away. She's so cute in person and seeing her sing the Haruhi songs (as well as her regular Jpop songs) was f-ing amazing! In March I'm going to Japan for "spring break" though it's not a break from school, but still it's a break from work, in the spring... lol and I plan on seeing Jpop group Do As Infinity. I know I went off topic there somewhat, but I have requested DAI to come to Otakon before...I believe a few years in a row, since about 2011 or 2012? Jim, can you pursue them for 2016 or 2017 should they still be rockin' out then? xD

I know it's been said that a Vocaloid concert is unlikely, but if can happen the 1st Mariner Arena would be an awesome venue for it. It's plenty large, and I think CFM would have plenty of room to set stuff up for such an event. NYC's Hammerstein Ballroom, where the Miku Expo NYC concert was held is a MUCH smaller venue and it worked out great... nearly a full house. I'd think that such an event at Otakon could easily fill the Arena. just my $0.02.

    Guest Request: 2015

    As I said above, I saw JAM Project at AB this year, but I wouldn't mind seeing them again. Also re: Hayashibara-sama: I'd like to request/suggest her as a musical guest as well since she is also a great and awesome etc singer. I love her songs. Oh and I almost forgot: Asakawa Yuu. I saw her at AB this year, but didn't have anything to ask her at he QnA Panel... all ppl were asking her was stuff about Vocaloid 3....the same question one person after another... ;;

There is a not-too-secret short list of guests that, should the option appear, I am authorized to pursue with maximum effort. I refer to them as "Holy SH**" guests. The list includes (but isn't limited to): Hayao Miyazaki Rumiko Takahashi Megumi Hayashibara Leiji Matsumoto So no worries -- if the opportunity happens, there will be no hesitation about snapping one of them up. In fact that list is shorter than it used to be... because we've snagged a few over the years. Let's see, Shinkai, Watanabe, Kanno, Jam Project? I've seem JAM Project at Anime Boston this year. They were AWESOME!

She's awesome and I want to meet her so bad. Takahashi-sama would be a close second. Though I'm sure the others will make my fellow Otaku/Otakon goers happy. ^.^ Also I'd like to add in a musical guest request.... Do...as...infinity! I know someone in Japan that says they're "pretty much done" but if they could go out with a bang at Ota I'd not know what to do with myself. lol

    :O Otakon group finder

I actually have a group I'll be hanging out with during the con, but I won't necessarily always be with them the entire con weekend. If anyone wants to hang out and get a drink (if you're 21 or over) I'm game. Name: Gaspar or Shiggitay (as my username suggests lol). Either one is fine. Age: 27 as of Jan 19th of this year Cosplaying As: Myself. I've been wanting to go as Miroku (Inuyasha) or Tuxedo Kamen/Mask (Sailor Moon)... Maybe next year... Interests: Anime and anything related like Vocaloids, computer building, casual gaming, classically trained pianist, though severely, and sadly out of practice Hobbies: See above. Anything extra: I like meeting new people, even though I can sometimes be semi-shy, especially around females I don't know. Don't let that (or my age) stop you from approaching me and saying hello. We'll be at Otakon... we are bound to mesh somehow. AIM: Shiggitay AIM 2 (my phone's SN): ShiggyMozart <== don't ask... I was being random and I wanted to variate away from my "Shigg" nomenclature for my screen names. Skype: ShiggityShiggityShwah Skype (phone): Shiggitay.Epic4G <== Unless I'm within a WiFi hotspot I can't take voice or video calls because Sprint hasn't enabled such data usage on their 3G / 4G networks as of yet. It's either that or it's a limitation of Skype in its current state for Android... E-mails: shiggymiyamoto@gmail.com -or- shiggitylive@gmail.com -or- gheller@rokokomedia.com I do have cell # but I won't post it here for obvious reasons. :-P I hope to see you guys at Otakon!
