  1. Unless the policies change between the 08 and 09 cons (which I don't believe they will, it hasn't been a debated issue), male cosplayers do need to wear some sort of shirt.
  2. I think that they mean selling single pieces of art for a set price instead of auctioning it. Kind of like buy it now on Ebay. For people who want to sell their art and get their money without having to auction it off and wait for payment , but with only 1 or two pieces it wouldn't make any since for them to get an AA table. In my opinion, it would be too much of a hassle because with the auction no one is really handling money until the last day. With a buy it now option, someone is going to have to handle the money all week long, and keep track of each artist who had a buy it now option.
  3. That's what Artist Alley is for - you get to pick the art that you want, pay a fixed price for it and walk away with your art right away. If you're thinking of something different, feel free to explain what you mean and we'll see where we can go with the idea.
  4. Can we stay on topic, please? The thread is supposed to be for suggesting programming for the 09 con. If you want to debate the virtues of random episodes vs entire series or how much you wanted to sleep during the first few Eva episodes, please take it to a separate thread.
  5. That looks really cool, I'm definitely going to have to check it out if it makes its way over here.
  6. I'll probably be there...working...I can't just attend a con anymore =P
  7. Or you can just work the con! Some of us overwork ourselves to the point of nearly passing out on the walk back to the hotel. I probably wouldn't even notice those lights.
  8. Just to clarify MC's answer a bit, the person needs to have a table in the Dealers room or Alley to be able to sell things. Standing in the DR or AA and selling without a table is still a no-no.
  9. I cosplayed a staffer with a camelbak...but I spent most of my time running around between AA, dealers room and video game room so I probably wasn't in one place long enough for anyone to see me =P
  10. This has gotten way off topic, please take discussion about baseball/fireworks/fireworks after baseball games to another thread.
  11. I would be in for a meet up, but I'm probably gonna be working the entire con.
  12. I wouldn't expect D3 to launch for at least 5 years, maybe more. Blizzard is a company full of protectionists and they have no problems pushing launch dates back until they think their game is ready. Remember, we waited about 5 years past the original launch date to get our hands on D2.
  13. Races aren't such a great idea, you aren't going to find an unoccupied area close enough to do it and racing in a crowd is asking for trouble. If you do a dance off please make sure that you take it to an open area of the BCC because we can't have the halls blocked by people dancing.
  14. Are you looking for roommates or just wondering if other people are staying in the same hotel? If it's the second one, the post belongs in the '08 discussion section and I'll move it over there.
  15. I edited the post to make it into a poll. Eriotto Tetsuo Kuuhan, you're going to have to go back and put your vote it (I couldn't do that). Super mod powers go!
  16. AFAIK, there won't be any metal detectors at the con this year unless the BCC put them in without telling us (or really plans on putting them in between now and the con since they didn't have any when I walked past the BCC last night). As far as getting stuck on door frames, it's a possibility but unless your costume is almost the same size as the door I wouldn't worry about it. You should be ok.
  17. This guy is right. I have been to every rave that has happened ever and seen people kicked out for killing the vibe by dancing awkwardly. discrimination on how someone dances....at a rave.... Right dude, I was obviously being facetious. And forgive me for maybe being new here, but why must we constantly be reminded "TOPIC PLEASE"? This is quite relevant to the topic. The thread is about suggestions for improving the dance for the 08 con. The recent posts haven't been about how to improve the dance. Now please get back on topic.
  18. Here's a place where you can get the bo staff, if you want to shop online. I don't know too many brick and mortar stores in the area that sell that kind of stuff though. http://www.martialartsmart.net/30-50.html
  19. It's easy to learn how to push a needle with some thread tied to it into fabric, but there's a lot of work that goes into the prep and making the final product look presentable. I'd look into buying the pieces for the costume, if I were you. It's more expensive than making it yourself but it's a lot quicker and you don't have to learn how to sew.
  20. Just don't carry the sign around the rest of the con, please. ::runs back to his SpecOps hole::
  21. As long as you're smart about it, that's your choice. Drink plenty of water, wear sunblock (do you really wanna deal with sunburn when people bump into you at the con?), dress appropriately, all that good stuff.
