  1. I hope this helps. I know this has been mentioned somewhere else, but you do know that you don't pay the whole price at the time of booking the hotel, right? You would just pay a cancellation fee if you don't end up going and forget to cancel your room early. I paid at checkout last year (if I remember correctly). The hotel did want my credit card up front for incidentals (damage the room, room service, mini bar, etc.)
  2. driving in solo from DE for my fourth year. it's about a 2 hour drive on thursday morning. return trip sunday evening.
  3. ... 645 available Room Nights ... this is how i'm reading that: example: you stay thurs, friday and saturday nights. that's 3 'Room Nights' ...
  4. Well that clears up that mystery. I called the Sheraton (Inner Harbor) and it was different. Oh, btw, if it's worth mentioning, only double rooms were available at con rate as of about 10:45 pm.
  5. totally. the interesting offbeat costumes were really fun this year though. bill and ted, legends of the hidden temple, GUTS (i think), snake eyes (yeah!), yoko (gurren lagann), the crow demons (i'm glad someone finally told me what they were), 'the renji' (as you mentioned - sort of ...), etc. ... there were lots of other great things i forget. i tend to miss a lot of the most popular stuff as it all just starts to look the same. anyway, my point is, "look at the bright side". there is a whole bunch of variety out there if you do.
  6. No problem, but like Jim said, ...so be on the lookout. don't get me wrong. i hear ya on that. i paid full price due to missing the room rate. my bill was almost 1300 for three nights. i am definitely checking every day for room info for the sheraton inner harbor. (oh wait, this is the days inn thread. darn it!)
  7. they will most likely not be available right away, but don't quote me on it. as it takes some time for staff to ink these contracts out, it does sometimes take a while for certain hotels. that being said an official response from a staffer is best. check out the otakon site for news and announcements often though as last year the initial hotel info went up on august 18 (whether that was with room rates or not, i don't know). this is - of course - about the days in and we have strayed from topic.
  8. all sarcasm aside they ARE taking reservations though. ... well at least the sheraton inner harbor anyway.
  9. thanks Jim that was funny and informative at the same time. i appreciate the info and i hope it helps others out.
  10. i wonder how essential the friend was. did they do a lot of talking/translating for the two of you ... or did the guidebook phrasebook and polite words get you around?
  11. taking a trip to japan is pretty much the top thing on my list of awesome things i have yet to do. as soon as i'm not broke anymore all i have to do is save some money for the trip (not knowing japanese i guess it'll be a guided tour - lame) gives me time to study and learn though right?
  12. most do. place promised in our early days, voices of a distant star, flcl, fma, metropolis ..... sooo many. interestingly enough not even a bit during grave of the fireflies. dunno?! i'm weird like that.
