  1. As the meetup is not an official Otakon-sponsored or Otakorp-planned event, it's unlikely that your request for logo usage or a front page announcement to advertise the meetup will be granted. However, please do call ahead to any restaurants where you're planning to hold a meet-up; surprising the staff with a 10 or 15-person group is unsporting at best and downright hellish at worst. There are tables scattered throughout the 300 level of the convention center where you may leave fliers advertising your meetup; however, you cannot hand fliers to other members or carry a sign advertising t
  2. I for one will not miss the circus. Maybe the thing will go out of business. /100% not a circus fan, heh However, I am super super excited about the new arena.
  3. Otaku Idol is Friday night, 9-11, panel 4. After a check to make sure nothing is still under wraps, I'll be releasing the rest of the panels schedule, but the Otaku Idol time can be like a little teaser, heh.
  4. Women are getting smaller. I'm 5'11" and more or less have to order my jeans out of catalogs now because there are only one or two stores that carry jeans/pants that are long enough for me - I'm simply a freaking giant compared to the average American woman. (This just in: ZILLA-GL TERRORIZES BALTIMORE! NO ONE IS SAFE! MAYHEM AND DESTRUCTION FOLLOW IN HER WAKE! ) *I should add that while stores like Nordstrom or what have you carry jeans with 36" inseams, aforementioned Jeans for Giants are also usually far, far out of my modest college-student budget, and are built in the much-
  5. If a staffer really upsets you, ask for his or her name or try to remember physical traits. At-con, you can visit the Info Desk to let us know; after the con, you can use the BBS or e-mail. Similarly, if a staffer makes your day, let us know! There are awards given to staffers who go above and beyond, but we need to know about their heroic acts before we can reward them.
  6. Um. Moving this to chit-chat. And to answer your question: I've never had to deal with it, but when my now sister-in-law was shopping for bridesmaid dresses, she had to find a style that was available in size 00 to fit her sister, who is built like a greeting card. It took some shopping, and she eventually got the dress altered to be skinnier anyway.
  7. Only Aramark. Their cafe is on the 300 level (above the lobby with the fountains), but sometimes they have small satellite stations set up with fruit, soda, and other similar items.
  8. The BCC has an exclusive catering contract with Aramark. This means that Aramark is the only group who's allowed to sell any food, period, inside the Convention Center (though they've always turned a blind eye to people being discreet about bringing in lunch from across the street, or what have you). Remember that Mountain Dew giveaway last year (...two years ago?) in the video game hall? Aramark let it go on, but charged the company that did the promotion a hefty fee (and there were negotiations involved, too). However, you can buy Pocky from Aramark (they've had Ramune soda in the pa
  9. So... I've already replied once, but I finally shored up my "This is what I will be looking for, and I won't purchase anything else" list: - Otakon 2008 t-shirt - Sailor Jupiter cel (if no one has a good or affordable one, then an Usagi/Sailor Moon one would be okay, too) - Fushigi Yuugi cel (hopefully Hotohori, but we'll see) - Something Vincent Valentine <3 - The hardcover edition of The Last Unicorn that Peter S. Beagle will have at his booth, and some of the concept art prints if there are any left Or, if I find it early enough in my shopping adventure, a cel from The
  10. 1. Always ask first (unless you're clearly at a photoshoot). No means no! 2. PLEASE please please please don't stop in the middle of a hallway to take a picture. Please. Walk the extra 50 feet to a wider area, and ask the cosplayer to pose out of the main traffic flow. 3. Try to have your camera ready so that people don't have to wait for you to fumble with switches and gizmoes. Most important, though, are numbers 1 and 2.
  11. Haha that first one was fantastic. xD
  12. Programming ends at 1:30 every night, and both Otakon and BCC staff will sweep the building to make sure that everyone has left by 2am. There's a topic about the Dark Knight already; please use it, instead of this one, to discuss the film.
  13. /forgot Darkwing Duck, Ducktales, Tale Spin, Thundercats, Silverhawks, Ronin Warriors, Power Rangers, and Garfield and Friends
  14. Fixed. As for me: 7:15: Alarm goes off. 7:30: Snooze alarm goes off. Shower. 7:45: Get dressed, gather all my junk for panels and head over to breakfast. 7:50: Hit breakfast in the face. Eat breakfast. 8:05: Good morning, BCC. 8:15: Good morning, Panel Ops. 8:45: Good morning, panelists and panels staff.
  15. The doors don't open until 8:30; take the half-hour for some breakfast!
  16. As a note, every year the last panel on the schedule is Con Feedback. It's your chance to speak to several senior staffers, all in one room. Did something at-con make you fall in love all over again with anime? Did something else make you want to rip your hair out in frustration? Let us know - we're more than happy to listen, and we do, always, try to take suggestions from our membership to improve the following year. This year, the feedback panel will take place from 3-4pm on Sunday, in Panel 4 in the Ballroom.

  18. Looney Tunes Sailor Moon Sesame Street Reading Rainbow Batman: The Animated Series Animaniacs Pokemon Superman: The Animated Series
  19. Like I mentioned, there's a Caribou Coffee at 1 North Charles - which is Charles and Fayette, and about a block or two from the Wyndham-that's-a-Sheraton-now and the Renaissance.
  20. I hadn't thought of a raincoat, and I was sure airsoft guns were not allowed, so this helps a slot! Many, many thanks for that! But not to sound like I'm completely list but what would I use to prime the shaft and foam? Sorry, you're of course correct. Look for one of those cheapie squirtguns (you know, the neon-clear-plastic ones?), and apply the same process to them. You can use a clear-coat type primer - or, check out acrylic paint medium at a local art supply store. This stuff is so weird, and is available in all sorts of consistencies and stiffnesses, but it'll paint on nicel
  21. Please don't bring a cake to share. It's almost inherently messy, and while the folks at Aramark generally turn a blind eye to people who bring in outside snacks or meals, they're likely to kick up a fuss when a bunch of people are enjoying the same cake. Cookies are a safer bet, but an even better idea would be wandering to Harborplace for ice cream or something.
  22. Unfortunately, there wasn't a Toonami panel application, so there won't be one on the schedule. :\ Sorry!
