  1. Steps

Thursday: 19003 Friday: 17437 Saturday: 21006 Sunday: 22817 Makes sense. Friday was my most stationary in terms of panels overseen and Sunday was the walk back to the car plus late Saturday night panels.
  2. Questions from a first time Otakon-goer

The line is pretty long at the start of pre-reg pickup but they usually get it going at a pretty good pace. As long as there are no network issues it's super quick in the evening.
  3. What time to pick up badges?

Thursday pre-reg pickup closes at 11pm.
  4. The earliest time to volunteer?

When I gofered shifts were typically 4 hours. I occasionally started early to pick up a few extra hours but they usually aim for 4 hours per shift.
  5. Wednesday before Otakon plans

I have a sort of routine that I do each year on the Wednesday before Otakon. I spend the day, or as much of it as I can, watching episodes of some of my favorite anime and a few other geeky shows that I like (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Star Trek the Next Generation, Doctor Who, etc ). I get takeout from my favorite Chinese place and finish the day off watching an anime movie (usually a Studio Ghibli film). I also use the day to do most of my packing so I can get up bright and early to drive down for pre-reg/gofering/staff stuff Does anyone else have their own pre-Otakon routine?
  6. Otakon 2017 Cosplays?

My current plans are to be Garbodor from Pokemon on Friday and my tentacle monster a few times on Saturday. I might be a Pokemon Biker on Sunday but I haven't decided yet.
  7. What to Pack!?

This kind of thread has helped me in the past since I suck at packing for vacations. Feel free to post your own lists and read others'. It may help you avoid forgetting that one critical thing. Clothes T-shirts x4, Overshirts x4, Shorts x4, Socks x4, Belt, Slippers, Swim trunks Toiletries Shaving bag, Razor, Shaving Cream, Deodorant, Body wash, Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Sunscreen Cosplay <List of all components for every costume> Miscellaneous Paperwork (Hotel info, pre-reg form, etc.), Spending Cash, Tote bag, Electronic device charging cord, Cosplay repair kit (Sewing Kit, Scissors, Duct tape), snacks
  8. Arcades thread the third

I've got a Round 1 in Exton, Pa really close to me and I love it. For my graduation party I rented one of the karaoke rooms for me and my friends and we had a blast. I've won a few crane games and played tons of Galaga Assault among other games.
  9. Otakon 2017: What's Your Objective?

I am going to try to pal around with my friends as much as possible when I'm not on shift as staff.
  10. What are you playing now? 2017 ed.

I'm alternating back and forth between Fallout 4 and Clannad . Every so often when I don't have much time I'll play a quick round of Plants vs. Zombies.
  11. The Otakon 2017 Roll-Call Thread

I highly recommend BronyCon. I know it conflicts with Otakon this year but if they're on different weekends next year I highly suggest checking it out. It's a really fun time.
  12. The Otakon 2017 Roll-Call Thread

This will be my 7th Otakon and my 2nd Otakon as staff. Name: Joel Hometown: Downingtown, Pennsylvania (about a 2 and a half hour drive from Otakon) Something Interesting: I'm currently studying Japanese and plan to apply to teach English in Japan next year. Also look for a green tentacle monster at the convention. That's probably me.
  13. Gender-Neutral Restrooms in the DC Convention Ctr.?!

At BronyCon last year they converted most of the BCC restrooms to gender neutral by changing the signs. It was really convenient when the closest restroom was originally a women's room
  14. WTOP report on Otakon.

Eh, it's pretty typical media behavior. I remember a big stink a few months or years ago when some news organization showed footage from The Matrix movies when talking about hacking.
