  1. P.S. Their "Shop" link shows the most variety of their dolls.
  2. At an art festival last weekend, a booth had the most gorgeous, but highly expensive, Kokeshi Dolls. I don't normally collect these, but they were so beautiful and gave off such a fun atmosphere, I would've bought one -- if the price hadn't gotten in the way. But thought someone here might be interested. Url: www.hodsdonkokeshi.com
  3. Yeah, that's right across the street from the Mt. Vernon Square metro -- very handy! I'll be taking the Red Line too. Though there's gonna be a few closed stations on Saturday and Sunday I think. If they operate things the way they've done in the past, there'll be free shuttle buses traveling to each metro stop. But they sometimes have a free express shuttle that'll by-pass all the closed stations and will take you to the next open station. Sure do hope they have the express shuttle available, otherwise it might be a long bus ride. P.S. There's a 7
  4. August sure will be busy (as long as covid doesn't ruin things. 😲). The guest list looks really great (and they might add more guests). Of course, it'll be held at the WEWCC, Washington, DC. Some of the guests will be (schedule subject to change, of course): William Shatner, George Takei, Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, Christina Ricci, Jonathan Heder, and Charles Martinet. url: awesome-con.com
  5. The Blue, Orange and Silver lines will be affected during Otakon (but I think they're single-tracking, so it'll probably just be a delay in your trip). And as CocoFaerie mentioned, the red line is affected too, although with some stations closed (but they usually have free bus service for customers). Updated trackwork for metro is at: wmata.com/service/track-work.cfm
  6. It's by Awesome Con. It says to RSVP via Facebook, but I'm not on Facebook so I haven't got the details. Like, I don't know if it costs anything, or where you go to view them -- on Awesome Con's webpage or at Facebook? But if you're interested, please go to their webpage, scroll down and click on the "Short Film Fest" section. www.awesome-con.com or www.awesomecon.com
  7. Hope it's ok to keep posting about shows at the WEWCC. Just thought someone might be interested in them. There'll be a DC Dive Show, The Mid-Atlantic Winter Scuba Dive Festival on February 22-23, 2020. I've never scuba dived, but some of the demos and talks look really fun (the pics on the webpage look gorgeous). They'll also have about 70 exhibitors from resorts around the world. If you're interested, the url is: dcdiveshow.com
  8. May 2020 seems far away, but thought if anyone's interested they might want time to plan ahead. Just saw that stars from "Back To The Future" will be at Awesome Con (May 1-3, 2020, Washington, DC). Also, stars from Doctor Who, The Goonies, Saved By The Bell, Shazam, Ron Perlman, and others of course, will be there. Url: Awesome-Con.com To view guest list: click: Features. Then click: Guests.
  9. Thanks for the info! So sad though, I was hoping Otakon might be going back to Baltimore sometime. It was so much fun to have two vacations at the same time: Otakon AND Baltimore's Inner Harbor. Looks like that'll just be a dream now.
  10. "One Piece: Stampede" will be showing at some movie theaters on Sat Oct 26, 2019. (The ones I found will be at the Regal Majestic theater in Silver Spring, Maryland, and at the Regal Rockville in Rockville, Maryland. Both will show at 1pm.) FathomEvents.com did not have this listed. Info was found on Fandango.com. "Spirited Away" will be showing at some movie theaters on Sun Oct 27, 2019, and in the next few days (didn't write down the other dates). Info at FathomEvents.com. So, at least in the USA, they might be showing where you are.
  11. THANKS so much for the con report! Sorry things seemed a bit off. And Anime Fest -- eeep -- seems by now, it should've improved. That's awful that it seems like it's not worth going. Hey, maybe someone has the Eclipsa cosplayer on a Youtube video? I hope Anime-NYC goes much better!
  12. Totally not Otakon related -- but while I was in Staples today, saw a flyer for their National Hiring Day on October 23, 2019, from 11am -- 7pm. They'll have interviews on the spot, and will be at all Staples stores. Url: staples.com/nationalhiringday Guess I should put a disclaimer that I'm not connected with Staples at all. Just thought someone might be looking for a job. (If this is considered spam, I apologize, and please delete this post.)
  13. Thanks so much for the info! The food hall sounds really promising -- and so close to the WEWCC!
  14. Sorry this is last minute, but there's a Small Press Expo, which emphasizes (and sells) Independent comcs and graphic novels, this Sat and Sun (Sept 14-15, 2019), in North Bethesda, Maryland. It'll be at the Marriott, across from the White Flint metro (on the Red Line). When you get to White Flint metro, there's one exit. You'll see the Marriott across the street (after exiting). You'll also see across the street: McDonalds and 7-Eleven (very handy). Url: smallpressexpo.com Doesn't cost much to attend. Sat is 15.00. Sun is 10.00. Whole weekend is 20.00.
  15. NYCC sounds AWESOME!!! It's probably so hard for you to wait 'til Oct! Though, I won't be able to attend. The Anime Fest doesn't sound too promising, but if they have people buying badges for each individual event -- maybe they have better things scheduled this year? I don't know. Sounds like a coin toss as to whether the Anime Fest will be good or not. Hey, at least Anime NYC will be in Nov! Please tell us about your adventures at NYCC (and Anime Fest, if you attend)!
  16. Not sure if anyone is interested, but this Saturday (Aug 31, 2019) the National Book Festival will be held at the WEWCC, from 8:30am - 8pm. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will be there, along with tons of authors. (Can't remember exactly, but I think there were some manga artists there in the past?) Admission is free (yay!). You all probably have plans already for the holiday weekend (in the USA), but thought I'd post this anyway. Website: https://www.loc.gov/events/2019-national-book-festival Edited to add: Just found out they'll be live streaming Justice Ginsburg's
  17. Forgot to say that the vids I saw on youtube, didn't show Japanese casinos. Sorry about that.
  18. Actually, I wasn't able to attend. There's some youtube vids on it though.
  19. Promised myself to not buy anything at Otakon (since I usually end up spending too much). But by Saturday, just couldn't help it, with all the goodies around. So, got some mangas/comics: Your Name, Volume 1 Monster Musume, Volumes 2 & 3 Flying Witch, Volume 4 (a slower paced manga, but I like the slice-of-life fantasy of it) Flipside, Volume 1 Cospain (3 mini comics about attending conventions -- they're hilarious) Genshiken Omnibus, Volume 1
  20. Soooo sorry you didn't make it to Otakon. Jobs just aren't fair sometimes!!! You've helped so many people with all your videos. I hope there are other anime cons you like to attend between now and next Otakon -- so you don't have to wait a whole year!
  21. They must have just updated! Looks like your panel's on Fri, 4:30pm-5:30pm, Panel 4, Rm 151A.
  22. Will Marriott still have the connecting tunnel open at midnight? I sure hope so!
  23. For wait times, last year the autograph line-con looked more like a sea of people. There was no way I was getting near that. Hopefully, someone with more experience being in the line will post about it for you. But you might want to schedule a few hours for it, I'm not sure.
  24. Sorry to post so much, but, you might want to see an Otakon guest: Hirokatsu Kihara, formerly involved with the production desk at Studio Ghibli. I missed seeing him last year and heard he was really a fun guest. Hope to see him this year!
