  1. Just to expand on this a bit, I would have LOVED to have the AMVs back up on the third floor, but the room we usually host it in (Featured Programming) wasn’t available to us this year. So, with one room, it got quite busy with rehearsals and events. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. It's actually funny, before the pandemic hit, I WAS planning an online con in my head.....I so totally thought it would work, and even planned everything out in my head. How to invite guests, how to do a subscription service..... I've very much changed my mind. 😆 if anything it is a very over-saturated market, but it also brings to light how important an inperson event is.
  3. Quite possible! I wasn't working the con back then, so I was a normal attendee. I always ran the Sailor Moon panels among others
  4. Because I live in MA, I run into far more Anime Boston attendees than I do Otakon....but anytime I run into someone that likes Anime, I ask if they've been....and why they should go if they haven't!
  5. Speaking personally here.... Last year was far different from this year, and I don't know if we can use that time-frame to match this year. The convention center is being used as a vaccine site which is different than the portable hospital it was (which required a mandatory 30day breakdown) I think it depends how the next few months go with the vaccine, and how DC is doing with their phases. I really hope we have it because the US is in a really good spot with vaccines 😷. We'll just have to wait and see how it plays out. I'll find out when you do 😜
  6. The problem is, there are no more virtual cons than there were ACTUAL cons....it's just a way a convention is able to stay.....relevant? To fill up the void that the weekend left for some people. The virtual con isn't REALLY meant for people that weren't originally going to be spending the weekend at the con, it's just the ease of it allows anyone from anywhere to join. I can see how it feels overwhelming when you have an abundance to choose from.
  7. Currently they plan on using it till the end of June. Then, even if they close on the day they say, there is a required 30 day takedown of the setup, which unfortunately makes it impossible for Otakon to function, as it would cut into most of the weekend. Thats if they close on time. Open any later and it will start cutting Into other events as well
  8. And I definitely was afraid of that. When I realized on Thursday I wasn't going to be able to use the stage, I was told by the tech we could hook up the gopro for some action shots, but when I showed up it didn't work. Definitely an expectation vs reality moment for me.
  9. Hello! I’m Kelly and I did the Gameshow this year. It was never meant to be like the show of games past. I have never been involved with it, and had never seen it actually. My attempt was to make something new and different. Unfortunately what I spent a year planning wasn’t quite what ended up happening and I take full responsibility for that. Unfortunately there were lots of things that happened within those two days prior to con that just threw all my plans out of the water, plans are only as good as the execution and I failed on that. Please feel free to message me any comments
