  1. Hello Everyone. Just to mention our party attended when Otakon moved from Baltimore to DC. Prior like most everyone we were attending In Baltimore. We were not able to attend last year. So this year we were all curious to see how things were going. The GOOD: First some shout outs to Steve who produces those great where to eat videos. This is as I always have said a must see for any Otakon attendee. A special thank you to Steve for giving us insight on how the Thursday Pre reg lines work, since we were picking up our badges this way this year. Also shout out to Becky who also ga
  2. Hello Gaspar. I know I am sending out of the blue here but you helped me with advice way back for Anime Boston advice. I am returning to Otakon this year. Wondering if the Renaissance on 9th street is an ok hotel or its better to stay at the Marquis. Have you stayed at Renaissance? is it handy to eating places> I hear they are on 7ht street. Or is it better because of weather to stay at the Marquis?

Also some controversy brewing over Funimation wanting people to pr she their Fairytale DVD in order to have a chance of one of 50 people to get a cast autograph. You think this is what they are talking about of willl people have a chance to autograph with them without buying the $63 DVD?

    Thanks

Oh man I don't check the Otakon board/forums often unless it's closer to Otakon itself.. .Sorry for not seeing this sooner.

I helped you out with Anime Boston advice? I vaguely remember that... When it comes to Renaissance vs Marquis between those two I've only stayed at the Marquis. I had friends this past year (2019) and the year before (2018) that stayed there during Otakon, but besides that I have no opinions/feedback about it... I mean it seems nice, as it is a Marriot owned and run chain but that's all I can say about it.

I dunno how much that helped but that's what I know. lol

Lastly regarding the Funimation fiasco you mentioned, I think I remember hearing about that but I have no idea what it was all about really...

      I hope you're well,

       Gaspar

  3. Hi Matt...For Fruit Basket autographs its saying on twitter retweet that you have to buy a DVD in order to have first come first serve chance to get an autograph with the any of the cast members. Is there going to be some other arrangement where your can either get an autograph or something like that?  Down know?  Thanks

I believe they are putting together an announcement/update to clarify how the autographs are going to work for these autographs as it seems there is a bit of confusion on them.

Thank you Matt. I did see the new posting of the autographs. Than you for your help. I still believe that this is very unfair to the membership that Funimation placed DVD purchase conditions on autographs so close  to the convention. The opportunity appears for Funimation to sell many DVD’s over the 50 meet opportunities offered. While other talent will offer the usual autograph opportunities. If we look at it on behalf of the members who can’t afford to buy the $64 dvd, we see how unfair this was to exclude them from getting an autograph with their favorite celebrity. The talent should be available in some way at some point to all the members.

  4. Just wanted to provide an update about how things worked out since I never received my badge in the mail. When I arrived in Baltimore the first thing I did was walk over to Badge Services with my paperwork and followed the Otakon Comptrollers instructions to the letter. I have to tell you that I was treated so nice by security and the Otakon staff I wanted to cry. I was ushered in to Pratt street direct to Badge Services with no line, no wait. It only took minutes to submit my paperwork and receive my replacement badge. Would you believe I was ready before the other two in my party who had the
  5. Thank you Sam, and to all Members in this forum who were so concerned and helpful on my behalf. I just got back from meeting with USPS Investigator who has concluded that my badge and Lanyard unfortunately and most likely fell out while being sorted on the line in PA. USPS in Warendale Linda made a good effort on my behalf to try to find it. The USPS investigator was very motivated to try to help me also. He provided me with supporting documents that Otakon would need. In addition the Otakon team also worked very hard to resolve the issue for me because they understood would it meant to me

  7. What should I do now. Haven't heard back form the registration people about my badge. Don't know what to do now. Maybe I'm just being impatient but only a couple of days before the Convention. Very upset.
  8. Thank you so much for your concern. Since one badge and one lanyard was taken i can only think that it was stolen. I think it may be a postal worker because usps was the only one with physical contact. There were no usps scans indicating the priority envelope was damaged, in addition it was delayed a couple of days at their sorting center with no further scans until it suddenly arrived in my city . I am feeling absolutley horrible about this as any victim of this sort of thing would I guess. I already spoke to my mail carrier and called the post office who opened a case and postal inspectors
  9. Omg! I hope they figure something out. Someone did say that if for some weird reason u don't get it badge, print out the receipt for that badge and take it with u to otakon. And I steadying waiting in the pre reg line, there should be another place for u to go in for mailing questions or something, but if worse comes to worse, they can help u there if not sooner. 10. I just received my priority package which was delayed from July 6 for some reason. The priority envelope was inside another resealed and when I opened it and the priority mail envelope inside was torn. One badge and one lanyard are missing. The other two and 3 matsuri discounts were still there. I contacted the post office and also sent an email to Otakon giving all the details, including pictures. What's going to happen? I don't have a badge someone took it.
