  1. Barring any last-minute surprises, yes -- I never rule out last minute surprises.
  2. Probably separate as they are promoting separate properties.
  3. Sorry...i'm trying to squeeze all the already-booked guests into the schedule now!
  4. Oh, then you might want to avoid the web page, because hey, it's Tuesday. Two more guests to announce today. Bazinga.
  5. Appreciate the thoughts as to how well the semi-offsite areas worked last year. The feedback is helpful. Rest assured we are giving plenty of thought to where and how we manage autographs, but bear in mind that the biggest issues involve lining-up space, and there is simply not enough of that to go around. Because y'all are a little crazy. As with the past few years, while the general autograph policy will remain in place, there may be specifics for particular guests that we will alert you to once we've finalized all the schedules and space usage planning. There's a part of me tha
  6. Kinda thinking that way too once I read her involvement in that show. If Funi is indeed the one that helped bring Park to Otakon, then they definitely outdid themselves this year with not only her, but also the English voices of Goku and Vegeta (now if only Otakon could have gotten the guests that Japan Expo has in store this year). Funimation brought us Sean and Chris, as their bios state. They weren't involved in any other guests. Garo is produced by MAPPA, which is Maruyama-san's company. Those guests came via our good relationship with him. For Romi Park, we've actual
  7. Glad you guys are excited; I am too! And we understand the concern about how we'll run the autographs. We're working on it and are aware of the various conflicting preferences. Autographs are always a limited commodity and assuming we got the usual 2 hour-long sessions, only a few hundred people are going to get them. There's just a limit to how much can physically be done to accommodate the demand. But hey guys, we still have a few guests to announce. Tomorrow's the Sunday act, and then some more guests next week.
  8. Anyone who worked on both Patlabor and Cute High is worth talking to!
  9. Well, here's two more guests for you, both directors with some *really* solid credits....
  10. More guests tomorrow....
  11. Meanwhile, next week is gonna be a legit CRAZY week for announcements.
  12. Believe it or not, Otakon doesn't ONLY bring folks with ties to anime, nor ONLY giant stars -- we've long brought up-and-coming, or otherwise under-appreciated, acts as well. Draft King is *most* of Stereopony, who did what by all accounts was an amazing show in Boston a few years ago -- so we know they can rock the house. But they're relatively new as DraftKing, and the sound is a little different, so if we can help them get some deserved publicity and attention, all the better. Remember, our mission is at least partly about bringing something new or rare -- sometimes it's huge, hard-to-
  13. It's not Kappei Yamaguchi, though I hear he would like to come back at some point when schedules work out. We were his first. Look like we'll be the first US one for this seiyu too.
  14. Oh, you guys. So here's the current COMING SOON: Friday Musical Act: Guess the guest ASAP next week. Announcement ASAP after that. US Voice Actors: 3 more. One will surprise you. One will make some people VERY happy. One is mostly known for video game work, but not for long. One contract left to sign and we're good there. Seiyuu: One. But oh my. Mwahahah. (waiting for approved bio and updated photo) Director: 2 more. One is a true veteran who's worked on everything, the other has been really, really prolific for like 10 years now. Very happy with these, now I just need u
  15. Well, you have Funimation to thank for them, actually. Sorry we had some technical hitches on the announcement front so it went out later than planned.
  16. At this point, looks like we are good, provided the itinerary works for the guest.
  17. The list evolves over time. We had to work around schedule conflicts and illnesses and such. Typical.
  18. So: Still to be announced: Friday Musical Act : Announced tomorrow Sunday Musical Act: very soon Couple more US voice actors Two more directors, probably a few producers (awaiting final confirmation but likely) One big-name seiyu (seriously, been on the wait list for a while here) I think we're at 20-odd guests, counting the musical acts as one each....
  19. Urobuchi-san is busy, unfortunately. We actually brought Sandy primarily because of her role as Chibi-usa in Sailor Moon.
  20. I tend to avoid inviting guests who've been to cons in our region too recently, or who've been to Otakon within the last couple of years. Unless I have a specific reason to do so (such as an industry partner request that they're contributing toward. BTW, I think the other premier we just got may mean another guest or two....
  21. Brace yourselves for GUEST ANNOUNCE A PALOOZA!!! I'm releasing the hounds starting today. Friday musical act guess the guest launches this week.
  22. Our guest list is pretty much locked at this point (with a few maybes). But by all means, continue to make requests -- it all goes into the hopper, and it's fun to see who catches your attention. Toshiyuki Toyonaga is indeed the seiyu in question -- one of the leads in Durarara. (If you haven't seen it, it's a pretty good show!) And yeah, we kinda got our wires crossed there, as I thought we were postponing it until Tuesday because we had some announcements related to registration.
  23. At this point, I am knee deep in contracts. Friday musical act is awaiting formal signing of the contract, and I need their bio/photo stuff. I have 5 more US voice actors in various stages of completion, but they're pretty much all set. Fair number of new faces this year, or faces we haven't seen in a while. Our seiyu and another big title producer should be announced next week. I have 2-3 more directors and a manga-ka being confirmed now. 2nd musical act contract should go out next week. Looking at a possible cultural guest that needs to be followed up on...cross your
  24. We will do our best to clearly explain any situations like that in advance -- typically when industry brings a guest to Otakon they have an additional signing at their booth that may have purchase requirements, but the official Otakon one usually won't have those restrictions.
  25. Guest announcement tomorrow (Thursday)......
