  1. Great first guests for 2015! My [older] niece is going to be happy about this, and while I would want to have Colleen back here, Laura is just as big for me!
  2. Heh, that's why you are one of the good ones. All this waiting has been almost as bad as the remodeling of me LOCAL Royal Farms...which still hasn't been finished yet. Uuu, has it ever been thought of considering a guest what works in the Japanese media, and by that I mean a news agency like NHK or Fuji News Network?
  3. From what I read that's a fairly accurate explanation why manga-ka are difficult to bring over. Also, some Industry provided guests are bound by whatever they or their agent(s) agree to with the Industry people, not necessarily with the convention. It's not like a guest can do just anything while appearing at a convention no, if be sketches, autographs, etc. Personally, I'm still skeptical about what moving down the PARKWAY will do regarding autograph lines.
  4. New year, and that means the faerie has her guests to request: Rachel Lillis Monica Rial Maxey Whitehead Keith Silverstein Ami Koshimizu Aya suzaki Takuya Sato Kyuta Sakai Kunihiko Ikuhara <--Really want That's all the guests I can think of requesting right now.
  5. the Anime club at Anne Arndel Commuity College in Anrold is now in Careers Center Building room 247 just for the summer, I think and I also go to that club. I just to the light rail and the bus from where I live plus, I also live in Anne Arundel County. I'm taking the light rail all the way up to the convention center for Otakon.
  6. Oh, I've seen plenty a cosplayers on Thursday (more notably last Otakon).
  7. Well as of right now, and barring any unforseen circumstances, my Otafund may be as much as 50% more than I usaully play with, which is ~$300 for the weekend, yay! I may be able to do a lot more buying than previous Otakons, but since I'm a frugalist by nature, I dunno.
  8. I have to agree with you. I'm one of those folk that likes to outline what to do during the con ahead of time, though last year when I got my badge on that Thursday, I was rather lucky becasue a thunderstorm had just rolled in about 10 mins after I made it into the Conv. Ctr. I tend to get worried about being caught in storms.
  9. I mentioned this once on another BBS about the lines. I myself am also sick of those line campers, especially when it comes to high-profile panels where line campers show up an hour or three before that panel, which sometimes causes those wanting to stick around from the previous panel to clear out and likely miss out on it. I'm not imflamming anyone in particular, but it's an inheirant con issue I think needs to be looked at closer. As you mentioned earlier, with the new Hilton, traffic theoretically should be lighter around that area, but there are a couple of other [Morning] bottlenecks
  10. Some good news I heard yesterday. There are reports that plans for the shuttle service are moving forward, and acc'd to schedule, the buses will be rolling out on July 1 of 2009.
  11. Heh, My highlight(s): The Ultimate Lolita Fashion Show--I don't know how they're going to top that next year. They even filled the whole room! [saturday] Otaku Bellydance Demo/Workshop--You people need to bring her back because she rocked, and actually, Panel 3 would have been a better stage IMO. Tony Oliver--He was so class throughout the weekend, a nice man.
  12. Well, you people are going to have your work cut out for ya next year because it also happens to be the return of teh Artscape/Otakon weekend (when BOTH are going on in the same weekend), and the last time that happened, they nearly lured me in with awesome musical guests, the Isley Brothers! Though I'm still a commuter in the sense, I noticed hotels were again sold out in mere hours, and I also believe that includes the new Conv. Ctr. hotel. Anyway, the fact you had the TMR guy give a video message during the Opening Ceremony says you'll prolly try to bring that group back and I won't t
  13. Oy, I'm sorry I wasn't able to stay for the Feedback session, but here's my thoughts of the 15th Otakon. I must commend you Otakorp for once again putting on another great show and it seemed a lot better for me this year than last maybe because there weren't any rowdy hoohahs (refer to the 4chan controversy). Anyway, this Otakon I thought was the best ever in terms of the offerings and how most of the events and activities were handled. I keep telling people that they should have been to the Saturday bellydance show because it was packed, and the dancers were really good. The Opening anima
  14. I'm back in the house after getting my badge, and already it feels like the 15th Otakon began. Getting there was a trip because on the Light Rail ride, there were some 30 and over people acting a fool and going buck wild! As for the pickup itself, I got there at 6pm. It was already up to Conway & Sharp, but the line was moving at a good clip, so it only took me about 45 mins, maybe a few more, to get my badge! The other good thing was I got in before the storm rolled thru, but that was a garden-variety storm (as some local meteorologists call it). I saw a few of my friends BTW at the
  15. Prolly between 6 and 7 pm, but there may be storms then so it could be later. I don't plan to be waiting in any of the other lines just to get to the other areas (Gaming Hall, Dealers Room, etc.) because my itenerary has several panels and other activities planned. Remember y'all, Otakorp discourages getting in line overnight or first thing. As a matter of fact, I saw a couple of people in front of the Conv. Ctr camping out this mornin just for the Otakon
  16. Speaking of subtitles, one of the gripes I have about the anime screenings is that on the schedule some of the shows do not say whetever it's dubbed or subbed...I was wondering if you can clarify which ones are before we come in. Reference: I think it was 2 Otakons ago when Gundam SEED Destiny vol.1 was supposed to be run dubbed on that Sunday, but they changed it to subbed when it started (to many a cheer).
  17. I just saw the ads, and I really liked them. They were short, of course, but sweet. It's a start, but I think it can lead to better product next year.
  18. The HD Theater offerings are great, but I have to admit I have no intrest in the Tropic Thunder movie...I've seen enough cinema movies for now. More later, because I'm going to the horse races.
  19. I first heard of the Otakon in 2001 but my first experience wasn't until the 10th Otakon, and I've been coming back ever since. As they kept doing more and more to improve the experience and attract more quality guests and musical acts, I couldn't wait to go each year. Even through sickness I was able to enjoy myself (e.g. last year when I threw up outside the first of the two Lolita panels). To cut to the chase, there's always something NEW for me to see and do over the weekend. This year, who knows.
  20. Dunno if I already posted here before, but as of now my Otafund isn't going to be as much as I wanted to due to unexpected expenses for else. Other than that, I shouls still be able to get what I want this year, including the latest in Busou Shinki technology, hehe. DVD wise, I still have some catching up to do, but the Code Geass vol.1 LE is high on thy "to buy" list if the price is right. Also, the Nadia Tin, the Princess Tutu thinpak, and a couple of classics featuring Angora Deb I shall be hunting for. One question though. Any confirmation on who got the industry booths, and if so
  21. The Best of AMVs is a great idea, might check that out. I do have to say I may not be able to watch the AMV contest because the Ultimate Lolita Fashion Show is running around that time too.
  22. seems to me, those tv ads in the baltimore area will only inform [or scare] baltimore residents about the con. so, will these ads reach down to washington, dc so i can see them?
  23. Seconded. If the Otakon doesn't offer what you want, then don't waste your time and money. The 4chan folk that went ape after that contingent's panel was rejected should have known that by now.
  24. Sorry to bring this thread up again, but the list of Starbucks Coffee shops closing was released today and the closest one that is on that list is the one at the Harborplace (Light St. Pavilion). Otherwise, it's good that the Starbucks inside and outside Arundel Mills are not affected, because they're pretty busy all the time.
  25. I'm just getting things together, will probably get thy badge on Thursday to avoid the heavy lines on Friday. Also, once the schedule is out I can plan what I'll do and who I'll meet up with. Hint, hint. Finally, I'm rounding up inqiries from buddies over at the VoxBox @ Dubreview as I'll be trying my best to get answers for them (e.g. questions from guests). More in a bit.
