This is definitely NOT the case in Japan. In Japan, there definitely is punishment for scandals. Agencies are constantly kicking out artists for scandals. As soon as someone is busted for drugs, they need to be taken out of a group in order to regain the trust of the public. L'arc en Ciel even kicked out their original drummer for his drug scandal. Not to down the idea, but to place a realistic spin on this: In a short answer, no, there would not be enough staff to do an officially sanctioned Edo Meet Up. We hardly had enough staff to cover registration, Spec Ops, and various other places this year where we truly needed people. These sort of meet ups should be done outside the staff realm and are usually out of our control (as they should be, because our staff really need to be in the BCC taking care of things in there)...and for staff to arrange a Thursday night gathering, it wouldn't happen. Just for the record, I'm the photographer who showed up at Edo Sushi. I was NOT staff, nor was I officially appointed to come over to Edo. I just did it on my own, because in past years Otakon archive staff have gone bananas over my "candid" photos taken during the conventions, usually of stuff that other staff/photographers have no ability or time to photograph. As I now had a new-ish Nikon D40x on my neck, I wanted to put it to good use this year. Tried that last year....unfortunately, they stopped doing reservations (ironically because large groups would reserve and...dun dun dun...not show up) So pretty much if I did it later, it would be first come first serve, and there wouldnt be all that many seats to begin with. So there is a delimma. Do it earlier when theres actually room (but when some people might not be able to make it on time) or later, where there might not be that many seats at all.

From what I've heard, korean dramas seem to be the better out of all the countries, but movie wish I'd have to say...china....maybe korea? I'll have to disagree. I like the whole chairs thing...if your really tired at least you have a chance to sit down. Moshpits are overrated anyway...and due to the fact that it WAS otakons reponsiblity that noone got hurt and not the VENUES, yeah, that wasnt gonna happen. Man, when they started playing Soultaker, that was soooooo cool.

My friend HATES them for some reason...says stuff like "the new hanson" and other hateful things such as that...I havent listened to them yet so I'll reserve judgement until I do. Fukiyama and I became "shirt buddies" early on, and anytime he spotted me wearing an Otakon shirt rather than one of my hawaiian shirts, he'd give me grief. Endoh was wearing a bright yellow shirt and I asked if that was a warning sign. He said "Yes!" and kept calling himself "Troublemaker Endoh". Kitadani kept asking questions about what it was like to be so tall. At one point they suggested they were so tired that I might have to take the stage instead and they would rename it "Jim project"....they're very silly people. Yeah.....that wouldn't really work, because then people would have photoshoots,panels, concerts, meetup with friends, and many other various activities to go to. That's why the "singles" meetup really didnt work. The point of the Edo Sushi meetup is to hang out the day before the convention and meet new people. I would consider moving it ahead an hour or two next year though (around 5 or 6)

Well I know sometimes unavoidable situations can happen, but to almost the whole list, I dunno. It's ok though, there's always next year.

Since Otakon pays for their, their crews, and all other related stuff travel, hotel expenses and other things, I doubt it was really that simple. If they could have brought their band (and Ricardo Cruz) I'm sure they would have.
