FanParodies / FanFilms list?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I was wondering if someone will be posting a list of the FanParodies/FanFilms being shown on Fri., Sat. and Sun.? Or, if it's not possible to post the list on the forum before the con, is there a specific place I can find it at Otakon?

Thanks so much!!

I submitted some new stuff as "Altecha Chan Studios". Hopefully it gets shown. I have more Fan Parody stuff that I just finish, but I doubt Matt Pyson will accept them at this late date.

Typically the parodies are listed in the Otakon program, so you'll find out when you get your badge at the latest.

I helped review some of the parodies, and off the top of my head I know there is a Witch Hunter Robin parody this year (don't remember the name, it was pretty good though). There is also quite a bit of live action stuff by this one guy and his group. Can't remember the name but he seemed somewhat professional (had a business card and what not). I know we'll likely be showing This is Otakudom as well as S.T.E.A.M., likely ReDeath, etc. There will be some trailers thrown in here and there. Should be a mix of some good new stuff and some old favorites.

And just because I find it necessary to say... if you have not seen "This is Otakudom" then you MUST! It is, in my humble opinion, the best fan parody ever... and I'm not just saying that cause it's about Otakon.

Oh yeah and that S.T.E.A.M. thing... something about Halflife I guess... I dun know.... :D

Was This is Otakudom not shown last year, or changed? I remember being disappointed since I didn't get to see it.

I watched my VHS copy of This Is Otakudom so many times it wore the tape out. Luckily Scott was handing out VCDs at Otakon 2005! I would FREAK OUT if I could get my hands on Otakudom/S.T.E.A.M. DVDs!

Oh, and seeing fan parodies at cons is great, because you're watching them with a large group of people who "get it". ;)

Speaking of parodies: anyone know who did those "Mac Switch" parodies with Subs vs. Dubs? I can't find those anywhere online.

Haha! Yes, I actually did get to see "This is Otakudom" last year and I agree, it was awesome. I'm looking forward to a repeat viewing. I also hope to catch ReDeath and Nescaflowne, as I've heard that these are great as well.

Thanks for the info, John!

Lol don't you hate this? I need to know if we did make it in if they'll be shown Friday or Saturday. I have a dinner to go to on Saturday night that I need to know if I need to leave early to see the parodies.

Matt Pyson has always said he is busy around this time, but it seems like each year he responds later and late. Maybe we will just have to wait till the con.

Yeah, I'm late, and I do apologize.

In addition to my own Real Life issues to deal with, there's been a lot of schedule flux this year with the result being that the schedule recently posted on the Otakon web site is different than what I had been working with. Accordingly, I've been doing some last-minute reshuffling of the shorter items in the lineup.

My goal is to fit in as many of the new shorts as I can on Saturday night without having to worry about cutting someone out if the Masquerade runs long. Anyway, the tent-pole titles are still the same as the descriptions in the program book:

FRIDAY: Shorts & Trailers, then "The Anime Zone" (60 minutes, a funny Witch Hunter Robin fandub), followed by "S.T.E.A.M.: The Movie" (82 minutes, fandub of all kinds of anime)

SATURDAY: Shorts & Trailers, then "Evangelion ReDeath ReDux" (35 minutes), followed by "This Is Otakudom" (52 minutes)

There will be more shorts & medium-length items on SUNDAY as well.

If you want to get a good seat, please feel free to show up early!

Why are you showing STEAM and This is Otakudom in fan parodies? You had a panel for each last year.

What things are being shown on Sunday? I'd like to know because the group I'm in sent two fan parodies in, and I'm sorry to say we're very pissed off.

I can understand that time was cut short, but why are you showing your things again?
