Hello again! Vandelesca's back with another question about the Masquerade.

I've read over the Masquerade Rules and Regulations, and I have a questions regarding #20, which states:

"All presentations must be within the delineated area of the stage, including entry and exit points, to protect the stage equipment. Skits may utilize these entry and exit points as staging points throughout the duration of their presentation."

Are the dimensions of the "delineated area of the stage" available? For the choreography in our skit, we want to make sure none of us end up off stage instead of stage right. We also plan on having someone cross the stage in the middle of the skit, so being able to calculate the time necessary for her to get on and off the stage would be very helpful. Which brings me to my other question.

Would having someone cross the stage with a sign to designate a passing of time (for example, "two weeks later") violate Otakon's "No Sign Rule"? Said sign would only be used for the skit, since that's it's only purpose, and would only be carried throughout the convention to transport it to and from the Masquerade and rehearsals related to the Masq.

Thank you for any answers! (again!)

Alright, just to sum up what's been echoed.

Unless you lining up 15 people in a single row, a la Riverdance, more than likely you're going to be ok. This stage is huge compared to what you may be used to, which is why we're comfortable with 15 people on stage at a single time.

As for exact dimensions, bear in mind that these may change very slightly since we share the stage with other events this year, but here's how it works:

Stage Depth is 40 feet

Stage Width at the front of the stage is 56 feet

Stage Width at the back of the stage is 40 feet

Entrances and exits are stage level, so you do not need to step up or down to get off the stage. These designated areas are closer to the front of the stage on both sides, however, so keep that in mind when you plan your skit.

As for signage, you are welcome to use it during your presentation as long as it doesn't violate any of the other Masquerade rules and regulations. You may stow it at the 1st Mariner Arena in our show office between rehearsal and the actual show (at your own risk of course), something that we extend to all participants of the Masquerade.

Keep in mind that once your signage leaves the confines of the Masquerade (backstage+stage), it is once again subject to Otakon convention policies.
