Question for '09 Cosplay/Costume Prop/Weapon

Question

Okay, I want to go as a yankee girl. And i read through the rules and it seems the item I want to bring ( a lead pipe) wasn't specifically prohibited, but I want to make sure.

It says "no tempered steel"

And i assume metal things that aren't pointy/sharp, are allowed. ( I saw some metal keyblades around) And, yes, i am aware it cannot be over 50lbs.

I'm not going to swing it around, more than likely it will be a walking stick

There no malicous-ness or threat intended, it is merely apart of a costume.

edit:(Yes, it's a long way off, but I want to make sure I'm allowed so if not, i can pick something different.)

Actually all metal keyblades we saw were escorted off premises. And we will not be able to answer your question until we have all had a chance to recover and reevaulate the weapons policy. However since we did not allow metal bats last year, I don't think it will be allowed. But I would wait for the answer from whoever the Next year's head of Spec Ops or their designated rep gives you the answer.

If you're going for a "lead pipe", why not make it out of PVC pipe? It's the right size, shape, and will probably paint up as a better replica than wood.

It will also probably be lighter then if you use wood.

Personally I would go with the PVC pipe anyway... some prop weapons although they look awesome can be a pain to carry around all day long. and with a PVC pipe prop you could probably make a replacement just in case something happened to the original fairly cheaper then a wood made prop.
