Maybe not something for 2024 but something coming...

They are exploring various options, including relocating to the footprint of Capital One Arena.

During Wednesday's hearing, Events D.C. President and CEO Angie Gates said the assessment will look at a range of things large and small, including opportunities to add additional retail spaces, such the Ben's Chili Bowl and Made in DC spaces that opened a few years ago inside the center. At the same time, the facility is more than 20 year old, and Gates said Events DC plans to explore other upgrades and capital maintenance projects as part of its study.

Its pre-hearing responses raise a number of questions, including whether Events D.C. contemplates developing a new, larger events venue on the footprint of Capital One Arena, should Monumental Sports & Entertainment follow through on plans to move the Washington Capitals and Washington Wizards to a new sports venue in Northern Virginia. That's not a scenario it addressed directly, but the Monumental prospect loomed large over a number of its other responses. The Bowser administration has formed a task force to examine future uses for the arena in the event Monumental follows through with its plans.
