    Idea for a future Otakon

Heck, Kazuchika Okada just recently married one of the girls from the original Love Live.

The Otakon 2019 Guest Request Thread

Ooooh, Ryuko Matoi? Is there a GameStop in the general area for those who need to get a copy of Kill La Kill: IF that weekend? Oh, and I have another addendum to my list: Kenji Ohtsuki. I don't think he's EVER been to the US, has he?
  5. I would love to see Erica Mendez!! She is extremely talented and I enjoy her work such as Emma (Promise Neverland), Retsuko (Aggretsuko) and many more! This is my first time attending Otakon too!
  6. Yeah, like I said, it feels like Groundhog Day. Ultimately, whether the state helps or not, the convention center is owned and operated by the city, and the city has other problems.
  7. This song reminds me a lot of the Bruno Mars song Runaway Baby.

    Idea for a future Otakon

I meant to say a lot of wrestlers are fans of anime lol,
  9. So Maryland is going to spend $50 million just to plan and design renovations? When the planning and designing are finished, I wonder what the price tag of actual construction would be and will Maryland taxpayers approve coughing up that kind of expenditure when there are many other issues that need to be addressed.

    Idea for a future Otakon

It's way more feasible to have retired rikishi, as Otakon has had in the past.

    Idea for a future Otakon

Having people from New Japan Pro Wrestling would be cool, but yeah, G1 Climax, which is a (roughly) month long tournament, generally takes place right when Otakon is happening. Of course, there other other Japanese wrestling promotions that could be considered. DDT Pro-Wrestling could be cool too. Or if you want to go crazy, Kaiju Big Battel.
  12. ATTENTION DJs!! How would you like a chance to blast your awesome mixes at Otakon's highly popular Ota-Dance? Well now's the time! DJ applications for 2019 have now officially been opened to the public, so click the link below to sign up and show us what you've got! https://www.otakon.com/activities/dance/ All Applications must be submitted by May 4th.

    Idea for a future Otakon

As cool of an idea that would be when you consider some of the wrestling events that were close to Otakon in the past (heck, in 2005, some Otakon attendees could have easily gotten on the beltway to attend Summerslam in DC), there's still a number of roadblocks standing in the way of this idea. The biggest one of all: most of the top Japanese stars will not be available due to the G1 Climax.

    Idea for a future Otakon

Would anybody else be interested in having pro wrestlers from New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor, All Elite Wrestling as guests and/or maybe even a show? Anime fans and wrestling fans have a lot of similar fans, and a lot of wrestlers are fans of wrestling.

The Otakon 2019 Guest Request Thread

AFAIK, he's still in Jojo. Viz and/or Bang Zoom! haven't canned him yet, just Funi and RT. Other than that? I don't wanna talk about this anymore -- this whole thing is starting to give me a migrane. Let this whole thing be something for the courts to decide...
  16. People have brought this up over and over. Many many people, including myself, don’t want him there. Inviting him would show a lack of concern for what he’s done to fans over the last 16-some years and what he’s alleged to have done to peers and others. Considering Mignogna is not in anything anymore, and likely never will be, there’s no reason to invite him anyway.

The Otakon 2019 Guest Request Thread

Please bring Vic Mignogna to otakon this year.

Another idea: Susan Dalian would be really cool. I know she doesn't have a loooot of roles but she plays Haku who is a pretty popular character among the Naruto fandom afaik. As for older "older guests".... Basically any of the English cast of Tenchi Muyo would be really cool. I think those who have even done cons before only did like... three tops. Would be amazing to meet them. Show was my obsession for like two-three years of my life, lol! Petrea Burchard, Matt K. Miller, Jennifer Darling, Sherry Lynn, Kate T. Vogt, Rebecca Forstadt, Ellen Gerstell, Debi Derryberry, Julia Fletcher...
  19. Attention all Funky Party People! Earlier today, BRADIO released the video for their new single O・TE・A・GE・DA! Listen and enjoy the funky groove: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWg9uPU6YYE

  21. So apparently Ikimonogakari’s hiatus is over. I’m a few months late to that news, but I don’t know if they’ve performed in the US before....
  22. They remind me of Scoobie Do, who they've apparently worked with. For those who think of the talking dog, I'm actually thinking of the band that did the Gungrave ED.
  23. For a little sample, here is "Flyers", used as the opening to anime Death Parade, from their 2015 album Power of Life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJ6zOxNEXvs Also, they will be releasing a new single called 『O・TE・A・GE・DA!』 on April 24th, 2019, so keep an eye out for that, all you FUNKY PARTY PEOPLE!
  24. *googles, finds music* Sounds good to me!
  25. BRADIO is a funky band formed by Takaaki Shingyoji(Vo), Soichi Oyama(Gt), Ryosuke Sakai(Ba). Their music covers a wide variety of music genres such as Rock, Funk, R&B, Blues, and Latin. Those who love danceable funk music like Bruno Mars, Michael Jackson, Earth Wind & Fire must listen to BRADIO. BRADIO was formed in a concept of adding a nice touch to entertainment. Led by the drum and bass which plays different sounds to each song, Vo SHINGYOUJ’s attractive soulful shout and sexy falsetto fascinate all the FUNKY PARTY PEOPLE.
  26. It's always talk talk talk, planning planning planning. Even if the city is willing to pay its share of the planning and design, actually doing the work will cost a whole lot of money and Baltimore has plenty of other ways that that money could better be spent.
  27. I'm not sure this is notable enough for a thread. Yes, the BCC hosted Otakon.
